I don't think they're aiming to get out of the Comrie contract or else they would have waived him to the AHL instead of carrying 3 goalies.

I doubt the Sabres would trade with a division rival that could be an opponent in postseason play. Are there alternatives in other divisions to consider?

I agree. Carolina is another team that comes to mind. I don't see many non playoff contending teams taking Asplund

I could agree Asplund has been played out of the Sabres organization. The Sabres have many better forwards that can do more than Asplund.

I do not see the Sabres extending Asplund a qualifying offer when he hits restricted free agency. Asplund's rights could be traded no later than the draft.

I heard the rumor we were supposedly in on Talbot
But i don’t see how it makes much sense

He seems like just a modest improvement (at best)
And he’s a rental

I hope we either get a legit starting goalie that can be here for a few years, or just stick with what we’ve got in net

Spend assets to improve the team in front of our goalies

Why?
He’s a perfect depth forward to have around
Especially if we are losing Okposo &/or Girgs

Bruins should do it, now if they actually would is another question.

What is Asplund's projection (i.e 1F, 2F, 3F, 4F)?

Bottom6 guy who can play either wing or even Center, but better on the wing
Solid defensively, but smaller & not physical
Limited offensive upside

Both Okposo and Girgensons are UFAs at the end of the season. There is cap space to extend both forwards. If the Sabres want to get younger and better, they can extend Okposo and replace Girgensons with Asplund.

Okposo &/or Girgs both have limited futures here at best
Maybe another year or 2
Asplund is a decent 4th liner or extra forward that can be here for a while

What does the captaincy and alternates look like in the future?

Obvious guys would seem to be Tuch, Dahlin & Cozens imo
Skinner, Tage Thompson & Power also as possibles

I think Tuch has earned the opportunity to wear at least an "A" in the future. The "C" is probable.

I think the next Captain is either Tuch or Dahlin
Kinda surprised Tuch wasn’t named Captain before this season
Okposo has been our defacto Captain for a few years now,
but i think we all know his time here is coming to an end
Maybe he gets a 1 year extension
But i think this is just as likely (if not more likely) his last season here
