Tavares to Buffalo

I wouldn't trade for him. I would be open to signing him if they decided to buyout his contract (highly unlikely). Maybe a 3rd and another mid round pick with a condition if Buffalo did decide to trade for him

1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks + a top prospect. I just don't see you guys getting more for Marner. If it was Matthews for sure you would get more. Also you guys would likely have to take a big $ contract back. Good for you guys if you were to move him and got more and didn't have to take a bad contract back

Matt Savoie. He’s arguably our best or second best prospect.

I think it would be much more productive</div></div>
I don't think they need to add a 2 way forward. I think Kane is a good enough forward addition. someone else had the idea of also getting a 2 way forward.
I think they need to either improve the goaltending or add another d-man.
Here is the other lineup that you wanted me to put together for you.
Skinner - Thompson - Tuch
Quinn - Cozens - Kane
Peterka - Mittelstadt - (?)
Greenway/Krebs - Krebs/Jost - Okposo
Girgensons scratched
Jost or Greenway traded or waived
Olofsson traded
Benson sent back to juniors

They might have to trade someone like Jost or Greenway to make space. I think Benson will be sent back to juniors soon.
If they added a 2 way forward he will likely play on the third line.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>Sure, Kane is a bit better
He’s still a forward that provides little to no defense,

It’s not much of an upgrade at all</div></div>
Buffalo is making Olofsson a healthy scratch for tonights game. Kane is a good enough upgrade over a player who no longer fits and clearly needs a change.
They would still have enough cap space to acquire either another d-man or a forward who can play a two way game.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>Giving away Olofsson is dumb
Especially dumb since you’re replacing him with the same type player- an offensive forward who doesn’t play defense
Makes no sense</div></div>
Kane is the better player. Olofsson needs a change of scenery.
He is on an expiring contract and currently has little to no value. He had a terrible preseason and did nothing against the Rangers and Islanders.
Buffalo just added 2 defencemen. If they need to address the defense further they have enough cap space to do that.

UPL as Hellebuyk's backup next year could work and is an upgrade over Rittich. Buffalo needs a veteran goalie with Levi. I think Olofsson needs a change scenery and Buffalo doesn't have the space for him.

I agree. Carolina is another team that comes to mind. I don't see many non playoff contending teams taking Asplund

Quiet Trade Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rktkt66</b></div><div>Simple - Holden is 35 and more or less a rental. The Sabres are not going to bump the younger, faster Bryson to the press box to play an older player because it does exactly what Kevyn Adams says he won't do: block the playing time for a younger player by inserting an older, short-term player in front of him. They've proven that by demoting Hinostroza and Bjork in favor of younger players getting roster spots.
Asplund may be an RFA this summer and become a spare part in Buffalo - for the moment - but they won't probably dump him in the process either.</div></div>
I don't see Buffalo offering Asplund a QO so this is an opportunity to number 1 get something back for him and number 2 Motte is an upgrade. I get that he is likely a rental but he is young enough where they could re-sign him to a cheap AAV for 2-years. In my opinion Bryson is a number 6 or 7 d-man. If they want to give Bryson more games they can either sit Holden or sit Lyubushkin. They have a chance to make the playoffs. Might as well try to make a low risk move to improve the chances.

I think Buffalo would accept Tyce Thompson for Portillo. It doesn't look like he will be signing with Buffalo and I know the Sabres want to try and get something back for him.

Chychrun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>Only problem with that is we have no clue if Power can play well on the right side
And why exactly do we “need” another offensive defenseman?
We are the highest scoring team in the league as is
An offensive defenseman is literally the last thing we need
Btw, it’s not MY opinion that Chychrun is horrible when he plays on the right side
Just ask Arizona fans & they’ll tell ya</div></div>
In my opinion we're not very strong on defence. It's not just about his offensive ability. he is a very good two-way d-man. I think the most likely scenario would be Dahlin and Chychrun together and having Samuelsson paired with Power

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Marked_Difference</b></div><div>Counter: Top 3 protected or shifts to unprotected 2024 1st.
This is a deal that probably gets done.</div></div>
Buffalo will never do top 3 protected for the 2023 1st round pick. They aren't likely to pick in the top 3. If they were to do that they might as well not put a protection on the pick which they wouldn't do. The reason I said top 10 protected is because there is a stronger chance the pick is in the top 10. If Arizona wants a 1st round pick with no protections attached it will very likely be the 2024 1st round pick.

Chychrun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>jtziretas
Chychrun is the wrong target for us
First, that’s a lot to give up for him
Second, he plays poorly on the right side- so he shouldn’t be paired with Power
And obviously, putting him on the 3rd pair wouldn’t make sense</div></div>
You're right it is a lot to give up but In my opinion I think we need one more offensive d-man. It's also important to note that he still young, he can be a core piece and is apparently very open to extending. When it comes to pairings a couple other ideas come to mind since you don't think he is good on the right side.
1. Chychrun and Power switch sides
2. Chychrun on the left side and Dahlin on the right and move Samuelsson with Power
