What? Dumo is Schultz will not be that far apart in salary. Both will be around 4.5MM

1) Sheary doesn't need to be protected and the Ducks have room for one additional forward if they trade Vatanen and go 7-3-1. Pens likely already have a deal in place for Fleury so they are good as well.
2) Schultz should still be considered risky. Not far removed from a huge disapointment. You have to remember he is also still on his RFA.
3) This just isn't true. He's a rock solid defensemen who can skate. Penguins need to lock him up as long as possible.
4) The benefit of shedding $4.75M and protecting all signed players off a b2b championship team outweights the trade possibilities.
