2023 1st round pick

Yamamoto is a middle 6 forward who struggles to produce on a team with McDavid and Drai. What makes you think he'll be any better on Nashville?
Schaefer doesn't have that high of a ceiling. He's a middling prospect lol.

Hard pass

Love comments like these. 19 years old, not even a year removed from his draft. Fantastic analysis and ability to foresee a players future so early.

He was a reach at 32OA, his skating isn't great, and professional evaluators such as Scott Wheeler project him to be a bottom six forward.

Easy for you to demand a team's top four defenseman, the likes of which your team desperately needs for underwhelming futures, cap dumps, and four years of retained salary, but it's not happening.

So swap out Yamamoto with Barrie and less retention. There ya go.

Grats, you paid a 1st, your best PP QB (who we can just flip later) and a mid prospect for a 32 year old. My face is not redtears of joy tears of joy

PP was fine before Barrie came along. Bouchard should run in just fine. I think Edmonton will make a move for another RD. Solid deal on both sides. Sad to see Barrie go though, good dude

Just some perspective though, so many people called Barrie a cap dump with not value whenever he was thrown in these trades.. crazy how perspective changes when these deals actually go through !

We can just retain half on Barrie and flip him in the offseason or by next years TDL. It's not terrible

Barrie has been really good this year. Don't let Leafs fans convince you he's terrible because he had a bad year with them.
Ennis liked this.

I didn't pay anything, I'm just watching the hilarity unfold.

You can think I'm annoying all you want, I'm just returning the favor.

Yeah I don't love this return, but I can live with it. The retention isn't much at least, and the 1st could be decently high - EDM isn't a playoff lock yet. If Trotz can sell Barrie off for something decent at next year's deadline, this return starts to look a lot better.
