Experimenting if Boeser Chychrun and Selling is all possible

Created by: WannaBGM
Team: 2022-23 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 1, 2023
Published: Mar. 1, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team is merely constructed to experiment if it is possible to do three things at the same time. Acquire a younger forward with term, acquire a younger defenseman with the term, and sell (because we know this year's Penguins team is not cut out for a Cup run). I am not making any further trades to acquire draft capital or bottom six wingers/centers outside of what I have in these four moves. Let me know your thoughts. What other moves could be made?
Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Boeser, Brock
  2. 2023 6th round pick (VAN)
VAN
  1. Gruden, Jonathan
  2. Pettersson, Marcus
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
This is making the assumption that Vancouver targets Pettersson over POJ. If that is the case, we can explore whether or not a Chychrun trade becomes possible after this move (salary-wise). The contracts relatively balance out, but I assume the Canucks would ask for more in return. I cannot be too certain though. If not a second, then possibly a first. However, I know Hextall does not want to trade away this years first-round pick.
2.
PIT
  1. Chychrun, Jakob
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (ARI)
ARI
  1. Blueger, Teddy
  2. Puustinen, Valtteri
  3. Smith, Ty
  4. 2025 1st round pick (PIT)
  5. 2025 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
2026 first as well.

The big trade. Let me know thoughts on over/under pay from Pens.
3.
PIT
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Zucker, Jason ($1,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Before going crazy, remember this is an Experiment.

I could be totally off on this one, but I think this trade benefits both teams for several reasons. As much as it stings to deal Zucker, the Pens MUST get something for him rather than letting him walk in free agency. He is at peak value, therefore getting something would be huge. I think Edmonton adds his grit into the lineup and can afford to go all in this season. They even get salary retention. Let me know whether or not this is realistic.
4.
PIT
  1. 2023 5th round pick (DAL)
DAL
  1. Heinen, Danton
Additional Details:
Dallas looking for scoring depth. Cheap bottom 6 winger and fits under their cap. Could be a 13th forward or 4th liner

Wouldn’t need to waive Heinen, if we made him available it wouldn’t take long for us to find a suitor to send him somewhere and at least get something back in the event that happens, above average bottom 6er on a cheap contract, teams pay for those

Chychrun deal is an underpay from us. Gotta think at this point Arizona wants at least 2 firsts and a solid prospect as the basis of the trade, the 3 players u have in that trade don’t bring much to the table in Arizonas favor

Good to know. What would be the ideal return then? Or is there no interest in Zucker to begin with?

Fair point. I threw a 2026 first in there as well. But what are yout thoughts that they would ask for in return then?

Zucker is the one of the best players right now. That would just be wrong to trade him, which Hextall might try and kill the Pens anyway, but there's a good chance they sign him for 1-2 years on a 3.5-4mil
