Description
Hextall has screwed us… it’s that simple. We are now stuck with a declining Granlund making 5 mil for 2 more years. After these moves we are left with ~5 mil for FA.

My reasoning behind the signings:
Zucker: I think he’s gonna get 4+ years around 4 mil range. I gave him taking a slight discount to stay (players are overpaid nowadays we aren’t getting cheaper)
Poehling: Hextall raves over the kid being our future 4C, I can see him wanting to lock him up for multiple years at a little overpay
Ty Smith: I look at a POJ contract this off-season and think he gets almost the exact same deal
Jarry: He’s gonna want a longer term deal but his health issues will cause teams to hesitate. I think he either signs for 3 or 5. I prefer 3 giving Lindberg time to develop and take over.
Heinen: He’s flashed when he’s started, and will now turn into an every night player, he uses this to his advantage and gets a slight raise.

With this cap space we can either sign depth, or I’m sure Boesers name will pop back up and get him retained. But who knows with Hextall anymore

He scored 60p last year and is on 50p pace this year. Hardly worth throwing this big of a hissy fit over. He could slot nicely in the top 6 once Zucker is gone.

Yeah you can box score watch and look where that’ll get you. He’s simply been bad and a LIABILITY on defense. He is horrible at zone entries, the one thing our bottom 6 needed to improve lol

This gives us plenty of space lol. Get Heinen out and sign a better 3rd line LW. Smith will get less because he hasnt proved himself yet. Poehling has been getting injured and will get less than that

Love the people that use Jfresh metrics as the primary source on if a player is good or not. By his charts Ghost is better than Chychrun. **** so is Jensen and Barrie. Johansson is better than Kane. Sandin is one of the best defensemen in the NHL. Those cards are good and provide solid information but they hardly should be the only thing you use to evaluate a player lol. Don’t be a sheep

And Jeff Carter scored at a 50 point pace last year too. Just solely looking at points doesn't paint the picture. Points are irrelevant if you're getting caved in and giving up goals every night. Not to mention the awful contract and the bevy of better options for this team that were available.
