Duche would have to be near max retained to make this work and worth it for the Avs.

At least short term it works as it is. And given Duchene has 136 points in last 136 games, NSH would be in for a massive haul if they were to retain that much.

Avs aren't that short sighted. Cap next year would be rough if not impossible to ice a full roster

Depends on the extensions of Newhook and Byram.

If they're willing to take bridges between 2-2,5 mil, it's doable. Very tight, but doable.

It's not likely they end up that cheap given their play. If they did come in at 2m per, the remaining 6 roster spots would have to be league min/elc's. That would be a weak bottom 6. Going forward, 8m hit will really hurt bringing back Toews and extending Rants.
