Best offers for Ullmark

Created by: DefenseFirst
Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 13, 2023
Published: Mar. 13, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Assuming the bruins win the cup (No, I’m not proclaiming them cup champions. I realize there’s probably only a 20% chance they win it. This is a hypothetical), and decide to take a step back in the off-season. Ullmark is on the market as a reigning vezina winner at 2 years $5M, and what’s required is a legit center prospect. Retention is available for the right price. What are the best offers, and what teams would make sense? LA picked somewhat at random.

1. Why would he be available?
2. What could the bruins have to get him?
3. Lol wait did you say Scheifele? You mean one of the worst defensive centers the cap era has ever seen? Ya, no.

He is a 1C without question, which was what you asked. Why would they trade him? Last year of his deal and they may want to change things up. I'm sure the Bruins have assets the Jets could use.

What about Hayes in Philly? They are stripping it down. Tavares in Toronto after they get eliminated in round 1 again. There are always options, it just depends on what you are willing to give up.

So who do YOU get by trading Ulmark?

Scheifele is a 1C on a bad team. Not on a good team. Hayes isn’t a 1C on any team. Maybe a 2C on a bad team. Tavares is, but he has a full NMC. Guess what all of those guys have in common? Boston can’t fit them under the cap. None are reasonable targets. The needed center does not exist.

You may have noticed that i started this thread. You also may have noticed that there’s a description. There are also several comments at the beginning of the thread. Both of those things should tell you what I would want in return for Ullmark.

What about any of that was absurd. Kind of all seems pretty close to undeniably and inarguably true. Tough to make a case against any of that.
