Take out the Hawks 2023 2nd and DeAngelo, and the Hawks would at least discuss taking Hayes. Hawks are not trading away a top 35 pick in a deal for a veteran player. But I'm not sure there's a deal to be made there anyway. Hayes was drafted by the Hawks and chose not to sign there. Seems like he's a guy who only wants to play on the East Coast.

You're rebuilding , is RS on Hayes 3 years really that bad?
Its the difference between getting ... well barely anything
As opposed to Hayes at 50% which could easily land you a 1st and a decent prospect.
He provides size and 40pts and 15-20 goals so at 3.5m thats actually worth paying for .

A team like COL who's cap strapped and needs someone like Hayes makes sense.
Downside is they dont trade 1st's often opting to trade players they drafted in the 1st round before the pick itself.
It'll be hard finding value in a deal with them and the fanbase although reasonable enough but they'd much rather trade Girard then overpay for Hagel's or Jeannot's like TBL does.

The flyers don't have a lot of cap space so they sould not retain some of hayes's contract

if they don't retain they will have more space to extent contracts and sign more people

You got 17m unused here . . . .
But that aside i took a quick look and no one with leverage to negotiate is owed money until Hayes would have been a pending UFA with 1 year left you coulda flipped.
Owen Tippet is the Single player on your roster in the next 3 years with any leverage to neogitate and is arbitration eligible.
The rest you either already signed longterm , are RFA's but not Arbitration Eligible or are Eligibile but just wont get awarded much.

So if that 1 year overlap is the issue i dont get it motivating the trade now.
It would be like MTL trying to move Anderson by taking a deal this bad just to move his contract.
We'd never do it cause RS would be worth it more then taking it with no lube on a bad deal.
