That DeBrincat contract will almost certainly be declined. Highly doubtful Minny trades one of their only competent centers for players they dont need

Why? He's not worth 8.0+ AAV IMO

Batherson makes 4.975 AAV, DBC is not better

And IMO he is nowhere near Stutzle, Tkachuk and an healthy Norris who all make ~8.0 AAV

Lol thats not how that works.
1. He has a 9M QO, and based off players like Barzal he can absolutely argue he's worth 9x8
2. Unlike every single example you just named DeBrincat is going on to his 3rd contract, he already took his cheap team friendly deal. Those players all signed those deals well before they reached their current level (Career highs of - Batherson: 0.6ppg, Stutzle: 0.73ppg, Tkachuk: 0.64ppg, Norris: 0.83ppg. DeBrincat: 1.08ppg).
3. Not one of those guys has ever hit 40 goals once. Norris is the only one who's come close when he paced 43 last year.
4. By your logic Timo Meier shpuld also get less than 8M too from New Jesrsey since Hughes os obviously a better player right now

lol in the context that I can decide how much money I want to spend on him?

1. I'd rather let him walk for nothing rather than pay him 9 x 8. He is nowhere near worth a Barzal type contract

2. lol at mentioning career highs of Stutzle, Batherson, Tkachuk, Norris... like if that's how they got their current money. Check the first 3 stats this year, that's exactly why they got the money they did. Everyone unanimously thinks Batherson got way underpaid. We celebrated his contract right away. Then you lecture someone on "how it works"?

3. ok

4. Boeser got less than his QO and it was a mistake too. I am not saying he can't get 9.0 but based on the player's ability, there's no way I'd be the GM paying 9.0... again, I'd rather let him walk or trade him for an overpaid vet but with less term.

All of this while completely ignoring that I said "IMO" twice in 3 little sentences. Your usual "combative" type reply
