Do you really need a quality defender with a reasonable contract. I think for your defensive line on the left side this is a buff.

So what you're saying is... they're a contender right now.

I agree.

Not sure I'd give Bjugstad a 3 year deal, TBH, although it is something Holland might do. Also, with the draft though to be ~55 deep before talent drop off, it may not be a good idea to trade down.

Objectively speaking, Byugstad does not pull his central three, the role of this center of the fourth link, it suits us, and most likely this is his last contract, he will need either money, a term, for us they give him a term this way out, even if he If he loses the competition to his youth, we will arrange to bury the contract in the AHL without a single cent in the cap, this is a working deal.
The project is very strong, according to some talents, Holland's team on previous projects was about 100 places and below (Savoe, Tullio, Petrov), assuming an approach to prospects, given Holland's strong scout team, perhaps the elections will be older students from student leagues, Europe or local talent that competitors have not noticed.

Bouchard gets a much bigger contract than that. Likely he will get something like 5,000,000 x 8.

Disagree. Where did you get such information? I understand the logic behind a big, long contract if Edmonton didn't have a salary cap issue. We simply do not have the opportunity to give such a contract. More likely to be a bridge contract for two years, until better times with a salary cap.

I agree, a 2 or 3 year bridge deal is the most likely. It probably ends up being more than $2.5M though - Noah Dobson got a 3 x $4M deal from Lou, although that was subsequent to a 50 point season.
