This scenario might work if Stockton wanted to play next year with like 10 skaters.

This poster is always trying to give Johnny away in his proposals for Clutterbuck for some reason lol.

Very head scratching.

It's true. I admit to having a pattern of trading away Gaudreau. My own personal feeling is he's grossly overpaid for the overall return. His size alone will be a detriment in any thoughts of a long playoff run. He's simply not big enough to fight through traffic, and honestly this past season suggested he's scared to shoot the puck. He looked pass far too often that even watching games you knew exactly what he was going to do once he entered the zone....and it seems like every team who played us figured that out too.
Trust me, I'd be perfectly fine if he proved all of this wrong, but in a hockey world now where 18-19 yr old kids are coming in at 6'2 and above and easily carrying 40+ pounds with the same skill level, I just feel he'll get lost in the game.
And again I admit I keep gravitating to Clutterbuck. I think we need grit guys like that to keep up physically with teams in our division, especially the Oilers. Bouma is injury prone the past couple seasons. Ferland really only showed any amount of physical play as an unknown in the playoff series with Vancouver. Maybe Clutterbuck isn't the "best" first choice for everyone, but I remember him as the guy who year after year led the league in hits.
Last year frankly was another of those "fluke" years. If the Kings hadn't granted everyone in the West with that horrible losing streak, Calgary doesn't even make the playoffs, AGAIN.

Latsly let's not forget. This whole thing is meant to be for fun. A way for fans to build what they consider a dream team. There isn't one created team on this site that will take the ice next year. So as I sit and do these, scratching my head smile I try and build teams with guys I would like to see here or on lines with certain others.

Let's face it, it's very unlikely the REAL GM will do anything to drastically improve the team from what it ended last season with. Meaning the chances of Calgary not making the playoffs increases. Dallas will be better, the Kings will be better, EDM/ANA will run away with the Pacific, Chicago/St. L/Nash top 3 in the central meaning unless we find a way to better compete within our own division, the end of next season will come way too early.

Trading Gaudreau for Clutterbuck would ensure that happening.
