Lundestrom

Created by: Jupa08
Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 5, 2023
Published: Apr. 6, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
-First of all, is a 21-man roster okay? If not they're close so it could be figured out hopefully.
- Boston gets a young Center capable of playing in the top 9 at a very good number with good potential then is an RFA at the season's end. He's also Swedish which could be a little bonus if Lysell makes the jump they could play together
- If another team wants him I could absolutely see another team being able to offer more than Boston could, I understand that. If Grzelcyk doesn't interest the Ducks, what would they want instead?

Additional Details:
The Ducks are going to pick in the top 4 at the minimum I believe which guarantees them another young player offensive player (Bedard, Fantilli, Michkov, Carlsson) would Anaheim be willing to part ways with Lundestrom given that he might end up as the odd man out soon?
ANA
  1. Grzelcyk, Matt
  2. Steen, Oskar
  3. 2023 4th round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Grzelcyk hasn't been playing much on the powerplay which is a strength of his. He's a top 4 defenseman with great 5v5 numbers and could help sure up Aneheims' backend. I know Zellweger and Mintyukov are both either ready or just about to be and have similar skillsets which is why I debated Forbort instead but I felt like Grzelcyk has more value and if both those defensemen prove to be ready they could flip Grzelcyk at the deadline maybe.

It's at least one year too early to trade Lundestrom. Doing so is putting a lot of pressure and hope onto a kid that's just been drafted. "Worst case" for the Ducks is Lundy gets pushed down to the 4th line and they're "stuck with" a defensively sound centerman making 1.8M AAV. That's basically exactly what you want for a 4C.

In a couple of years Gaucher is probably the one that would push Lundestrom off the roster, if any one does.

Lundestrom is a true center that really cant be moved to the wing, which is good with Boston's roster construction. Hasnt ever really got extended time with offensive minded wingers which I think is what his game has been missing. He flies under the radar in Anaheim. All of that is to say I think he would actually fit really well in Boston with the wing talent they have.

With that said, Anaheim needs a defense first LHD to play the middle pair with Drysdale. We would opt for Forbort over Grezlyk. Even Mike Reilly would suffice. Mintyukov and Zell are probably not ready to make the jump just yet, especially given GMPVB has publicly said he likes guys to overdevelop before making the big club, so getting a guy to pair Drysdale for a year until (hopefully) Mintyukov is ready to make the jump is ideal for Anaheim.

However, Anaheim rejects this deal as the ask for an up and coming center under team control is more than a one year rental LHD. But using Forbort and Lundestrom as center pieces of a trade is not far off, I just think Boston needs to add more value. Assuming Anaheim drafts another center top 3 in this draft, we will have to start moving some to the wing or out, and Lundestrom is probably close to first on that list to go.

That’s is a laughable offer for Lundestrom.

I could see Grzelyck being a duck for 1 year. We don’t need him.

And Steen probably will never be something.

And a 5th round pick in an awful draft.

Lundestrom was taken 23 overall I believe.

I think he is our 3rd center of the future, and if you want him give us a top 7 pick.

Lundestrom and Vaakainen for Carlo and Reilly.

Only thing that would scare me would be Carlo’s concussion problems

@Jupa08 the biggest problem with Boston acquiring Lundestrom is what does Boston have that Anaheim needs. They've got no high picks until the 25 1st, too far out for Anaheim. There's no prospects of note in the system that interest us, so that leaves roster players. Boston's biggest strength is goalies, but that's not a need in Anaheim. As you're acquiring a center, there are none that interest us on your roster. That leaves wingers and defensemen.

We have a short term want at LHD, but it's one we're not willing to give up much to get, certainly not Isaac. That leaves scoring wingers and defense first RHD. Now add the fact that Anaheim wants to add pieces that will be around a while, so anyone over the age of 27 is out.

That leaves basically Carlo. So my offer would be Lundestrom and sending Vaakainwn back for Carlo, and we'll take Reilly off the roster for additional cap relief.
