First off, Ekblad despised the Leafs growing up, Being from Windsor he was a Diehard Red Wings fan and still is. he's not waiving for Toronto. And that crap doesn't get him anyways.

Not really. Rielly just signed a new deal and leafs are regretting it. Reason #1 Terrible on defence and Reason #2 Ekblad only has 2years left or 1 after the year is "officially over"

Well he obviously does care where he's from, As he and his fiance are building their dream home. not more than 15 minutes from Detroit's Little Caesars Arena. Laffert+Rielly+3rd isn't even remotely close to getting Aaron Eklad who's 100% better than Morgan Rielly.

Ignore the loud and vocal minority. Yours is a solid premise. It's a lateral move for FLA though, as it doesn't solve their need for an elite shutdown D.
