Interesting proposal, wonder if Mikael Granlund even has a spot in the Kings lineup. Better than to scratch a $5M player and deal a former first rounder that fits a 4th line role better in Kupari.

I did think about a Petersen for Granlund swap, but I believe that buying out Granlund would make more sense.

Why? What exactly do we gain by it? My thinking is that we don't need Granlund at all, but we do need to get a new goalie either way. I know Petersen wasn't good (alright he sucked) recently, but goalies are so unpredictable.

I would much rather Jarry. Even if you want to move on, buying him out gives you over $4M in cap space, so you can sign an FA for around there instead of giving $5M to Petersen. If anything, I would like to be compensated a little bit because Granlund's buyout is much more tolerable than Petersen's.
