Bennett & Girard is pretty much a straight swap to me. Newhook is significantly better than Jost.

A lot has been a result of the injury bug. Pretty sure the idea was to let him grow between Landy and Val. Never got a chance to happen. But yeah he's getting thrown around all over the place so it's going to be hard for the kid to find any kind of consistency. I often feel JTC might have been a better player if he'd had more consistent opportunity too.

Makes sense, I’m a big Jost fan (obviously) so I wished he lived up too the potential but I feel like Bennett is just a mini kadri waiting to bloom

I'd agree that I think Jost could have been handled better. There were flashes there at time. I wouldn't say the Avs have been overly good on handling prospects especially the 'non-superstar' middle to late first rounders (or else they simply draft badly and those players were always going to be a let down). Also agree Bennett could be a 'future Kadri' though Kadri had already had some higher point seasons earlier in his career IIRC. Basically he was traded for Barrie. Other pieces were to balance contracts, term etc. So I'd say a straight swap is a good hockey trade. Maybe other pieces are added in the same way (balancing contracts etc) but they wouldn't be much.
