Stay Competitive

Created by: pbesner30
Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: May 1, 2023
Published: May 1, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Best scenario for the Bruins imo. I would like them to sign Bertuzzi, but that would require them to trade away Hall or Debrusk which I don't see happening. I would also like them to resign Hathaway but then again I doubt it happens. Let me know what you would do, trades, signings, etc.

Well he was good this season, but the goal he allowed late in the third will give big arguments for Sweeney to sign him cheap

Offer sheets never happen and the player has to sign the offer sheet.

It was redirected by McAvoy's stick and one goal/one game especially under the circumstances he played isn't changing anything to his contract. Also, why would you want to stay competitive??

didn't see it yet, however there could be multiple teams willing to pay him up to 4ish mil. lots of teams need goaltending

20 man rosters are not a thing. Still need to shed to fill out team.

Because with the players you have you can't finish last (Pastrnak, Marchand, McAvoy, Lindholm, Hall, Debrusk, Ullmark, etc.) so you have to at least try

if I'm the pens/devils/montreal/Carolina/sens etc gm I would easily pay a 2nd rounder and offer him 3x4mil

Cool, he’s not signing that offer sheet as all it does Boston matches and then forces an Ullmark trade. He knows that. Only way he signs an offer sheet is one Boston just can’t match. That kind of OS will compensate Boston a 1st and 3rd at minimum.

You can't build a team on a 20 man roster, Still need to move bodies out. Pretty sure that Taylor Hall will be a cap casualty as well.

Again, offer sheets literally never happen and the player has to sign it. Bruins would match it anyways.

Sure they can't finish last but they can't win the Cup either and that's the goal so you're looking at retooling and get back to contention. Trade the last 3 you named (and some others) over the next seasons to get futures.

It is actually.

Ideal is signing Sway to a bridge and keeping both but considering their cap that is tentative at best anyway.

Trading Ully while has value at his highest with 2 years remaining and keeping the guy coming off his ELC to be your #1 the next 10 years is actually very good business. If a goalie gets moved. 🤷🏻‍♂️

yes but team will know your situation, it will reflect on the amount of value you will get for ullmark

Not really, his NTC will be a bigger factor, but who cares it’s the cap space that really matters.

They move Reilly, Grizz, sign Sway and Freddy to bridge deals. Fill the remaining slots with kids on their ELC, they are under the cap, bonus overages included. It’s not THAT dire.
