Goodrow isn't leaving. No team wants to help the Rangers. The only plausible team I see is Buffalo, but as a locker room guy and a playoff performer, the Rangers aren't getting rid of him, even if he is paid too much. You can overrate playoff experience all you want, but the 4th line was our best line for the majority of the series. They should do everything in their power to keep that line together.
The obvious casualty is Miller. He hasn't been fantastic, and he's an athletic freak, but he is going to price himself out. We have Lindgren, Jones, Robertson, Hajek, and Harpur, and the Rangers are just going to have to get by on those five guys.
You're not bringing in Othmann to play him on his weak side. You're asking for another development disaster. If Othmann impresses, my guess is this is the offseason Lafreniere leaves. If Lafreniere shows improvement on the right side, Kakko will most likely go.
Tarasenko and Kane aren't coming back. Nor should they. The Devils were faster. That was the only difference. Faster to pucks, faster on the rush, just plain faster. Bring in some unproven talent and bring in some speed. Not aging veterans, even if they performed fairly well. Here's how I see it shaking out:
Kreider - Zibanejad - new RW
Panarin - Trocheck - cheap RW, Gurianov type probably
Othmann - Chytil - Kakko/Laffy
Motte - Goodrow - Vesey
Lindgren - Fox
Jones - Trouba
Robertson/Hajek/Harpur - Schneider
Shesterkin
Hopefully Halak but if not enough money Domingue I guess.
