Who knows if Bergeron or Krejci comes back I think Krejci is probably done Bergy might come back for one more year.
Nosek and Foligno both expressed interest in staying and if they are willing to take a pay cut I could see one or both returning.

I would love to keep Orlov around but I don’t see a way to make it work. As for Bertuzzi they would need to trade Hall or Coyle (won’t happen because his contract and the Bruins lack of centres) but a Hall trade I can see happen.
As for Cliffy hockey I hope I never see him again

Most star player contracts have turned into nightmares, right? You'll count for a long time...

Seattle started the season with the worst PK in the league. Since Jan 3 it's been in the top 5 for killing penalties.

I would honestly love to see some graduations out of Providence and let the older guys walk. We finally have the coach for it. If one of, or both, Bergeron and Krejci retire it would be the perfect time for it.

Yes, Nosek is incredible at the dot and defensively, but we have Beecher who arguably has a higher ceiling who can fill that spot. We also have tons of bottom 6 guys who can fill the wings.

I think rebuilding the defensive core to be a little bigger while not sacrificing puck movement is going to be the largest task.

Nah, not really. I'll be counting less than a year, guarantee it.

Pasta is a great winger but not even close to worth over $11M, especially on a team with no Berg/Krejci. It's gonna be Panarin x2.

Panarin is 31yo, awful comparison.

You should be more worried about Larkin's contract who's never been a $8.7M player.

Fine with moving on from Nosek but unsure why Beecher (23 points in 61 games this season) is considered as an option for the NHL roster.

Could see Beecher/Lysell getting into some games but neither feel NHL ready

It's a pretty apt comparison, you'll see.

I'm not worried about an $8M cap hit for a center on a team with over $20M in space my dude...but again, whataboutism is a good tactic...

Most scouting reports that I've looked at describe him as a defensive first center with elite speed and acceleration. He needs to work on his confidence with the puck but his shot is "reportedly" very good. At 6'3" 210lbs, people who follow and report on the P-Bruins have him penciled in to at least challenge for a spot out of camp due to this "high floor" because of his size and speed. It will most likely be between him and McLaughlin if they go that route.

I think his ceiling is a Trent Frederic type who may take longer to develop into a 3rd line 35-45 point center. The "high floor" I mentioned earlier is probably a Michael Mcleod, defensive and faceoff specialist center.

Pasta does have an awful contract if your goal is to win the cup. The Bruins will never win with him being the highest paid player on the team because he isn't a playoff guy. He will put people in the seats during the regular season and make a lot of jersey sales though.

Yes 79 Points. 36 of which were on the PP. Even strength he is a +2 in 77 games.

All while on the Bergeron and Marchand line...

There it is.

Again - great player, great with the fans and great for jersey sales.

Not even remotely close to worth over $11M a year.

Plus minus is a useless stat. Did not know powerplays didn't count in the playoffs. Actually, yes, they do. Maybe the Bruins have been this good because he's one of their top players and not just carried by Marchand and Bergeron (which is a stupid argument to begin with). Do you think Point is only good because of Kucherov? Rantanen because of MacKinnon?

Indeed, his cap hit is irrelevant if you never plan to win a Cup which doesn't seem to be in Detroit plans.

Regardless, he still need a minimum of offense in his game and the first step is to put great numbers in the AHL. McLeod was 0.6 pts/GP and 0.49 pts/GP in the two years he played in the AHL.

So a knockoff Ovechkin making 11.25M a year is a good contract you're proud of? A contract you think will help the bruins win a cup? It's a good thing it's an 8 year contract, because it'll take them a while to be competitive after not winning this year.

The cap will go up in a few years and it's a solid contract for an elite player. Do you believe Oilers can't win with McDavid at $12.5M?
