Shedding Girard's team friendly cap hit, isnt high on th Avs to do list. He plays both sides and fits the breakout style of the Avs too well. Remove the 1st and I think its fair, but I wouldn't accept it on the Avs end. Schmaltz its a higher end JTC, but I doubt he is a 2c. Bad team equals elevated role and inflated points. Most ppl are overlooking the fact that the broke or delinquet Yotes would have to pay him more than his cap hit for the remaining years 7.5m, 7m, 8.5m. That will lower the Yotes negotiation power. End of the day, I like Schmaltz and his potential fit with the Avs, but GMCM should refuse to trade Girard until a deal is worked out with Toews. Can't be short sighted and remove a third of their elite D core with no plug n play replacements ready. Avs D is what had them win the central with all of their injuries and lack of a 2nd line.
