If Matthews was traded this would more or less be the return he gets.

Much appreciated comment sens65. Cool to see my hockey-eval seems fair. For once (and urrgg, can't believe I'm writing this), I would really like for the Leafs to win and go as far as they could. But some of their guys' compete level is never at where it should be to give it all to win.
Your Sens are due for some playoff time as well. Sincerely hope they make it next year as they definitely should/could in my view.

Hayton and Geekie are 2 quality (young) Firsts. I think they are more than enough for an underachieving/undereffort type of player. Matthews is not a gamer. He plays the game of hockey

Nah some desperate playoff team would give more

Got a feeling if he was moved it would be a blockbuster for the ages. Bigger than the Karlsson trade

Someone would offer more, Columbus for starters

Barrett Hayton is tracking to be a solid 2C, Geekie could easily be a 1C, Crouse is one of the most effective defensive forwards in the game. Who exactly is offering more than that, and what are they giving up?

I don't see any contending teams giving up that kind of haul for one player.

But remember Hayton had a miserable start like he was almost unuseable. Idk will he do it again or be the guy he was till after the TDL

And trust me if a guy like AM becomes available team wanting a cup will sell their arm and leg. Look at what Florida did for Tkachuck

SEA would probs give half their roster for AM. Like of all teams they would probs be the ones with most interest and he knows the HC

You mean for a player who just scored 60 goals? Would have been in the 50’s if he didn’t start the season with a wrist issue as well.

This isn’t just “one player”, this is Matthews lmfao. And I’m not even a leafs fan saying this.

If AZ wanted him that bad, It’s costing Cooley and their First as a start. Hayton looks like a fine middle 6C, and Geekie is unproven, but it’s going to take Cooley.
