Panarin Value

Created by: HOCKEYBOY448
Team: 2023-24 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: May 6, 2023
Published: May 6, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Does there need to be more headed Vegas’ way? A 1st? Sykora? Jones or Robertson? Obviously this would come down to Panarin waiving his NMC, but it could be cool for both sides. Top line of Panarin, Eichel and Stone would be filthy. Saves Vegas about just under a $1 mil. Allows the Rangers to fill a few holes in the lineup. And reinforce the right side. Admittedly the left side would be extremely young. Unless we reworked the lineup to move Smith over.

That was what I was thinking. I personally wouldn’t mind adding Laf to that deal and a 1st. Then keep Smith on the left wing and sign Jesper Fast for the 3rd line with the money not used to sign Laf.

On what planet can a capped strapped Vegas team? Can afford Panarin. Oh that's right they can't.

The move above saves $850k for them. Albeit creates some holes, made an updated version of this with what I think is a better balanced trade value.

You need to add to the VEGAS SIde.
The rangers are not taking on Mcnabb a bottom pair D (on the rangers)
Roy a 4th liner on the rangers (and produces 30 pts) at 3 million.
Reilly Smith a 3rd liner on the rangers at 5 million cap hit.

Both Roy and Smith produce less than panarin on his own.

This is a package of mediocre for an top 5 Left winger.

My objective was to make the Rangers a harder team to play against and better suited for the playoffs. This move does this.

So the islanders?

The problem isnt actually the rangers roster, its the lack of coaching and effort. They have players capable of playing a physical game, who in games 3-7 absolutely didnt.

Without Panarin there is still more offensive talent on the Rangers than the Islanders and that’s not a slight to the Isles. Plus all that talent didn’t do a thing come playoff time. It’s about having a team good enough to make the playoffs and actually be built for the style of play that playoff hockey requires in order to compete. The past two playoffs didn’t show enough for me to believe Panarin is that guy for us.

you still have to make it to the playoffs. You cant move someone like panarin without getting back significantly more production than that.

It also opens some. And yeah he's still a top 5 Left wing.
Tkachuk, robertson, Kaprizov, Maybe make a case for gaudreau. Thats it.

There is zero shot the team above misses the playoffs unless half the team was hurt or mysteriously died. You clearly can’t see the other side of a trade for the opposite team. If it doesn’t hurt both sides it isn’t fair. Plus I’m after improving the overall team instead of the 1 trick pony and relying on the powerplay to save us like the last 2 years.

Means nothing if he doesn’t show up when needed most in the playoffs. Imagine if Kreider hadn’t scored as much as he did, we probably would’ve been swept.

You subtract 30 points in the season with the aformentinoed players added, and you're looking at losing an additional 10 games or so.

Ive got no problem in looking at a balanced trade. The point I'm making from the rangers perspective is, that you can't move a player like panarin for "small pieces". He's still a top 10 player at his position, he's still had consecutive back to back 90 pt seasons, and if you ignore the panademic shortened season he's been a 90 pt guy every single year.

Yeah his playoffs were bad, but production is still production. Moving panarin might be a thing, but not for something like this.

I mean i dont disagree with you on the second half of that statement. But lets be clear, panarin isn't the only one at fault here. How effective was Mika? How effective was fox?
literally the only player who showed up for the entire series was Igor.

You moving mika and fox? Because they were both absolutely terrible the entire series.
