Description
Some moving parts here. First, don't trade any 2023 or 2025 draft picks. The 2023 draft is loaded and by the time 2025 comes around we will need those four picks in the first two rounds. Next, this is assuming Backstrom gets put on LTIR and we can use his cap space. Third, I buyout Mantha so that we do not have to use any trade capital. Barbashev adds middle six scoring and physicality. Reinhart adds the top six scoring the Caps are looking for. Seeler comes in as a the 7th d-man who can drop the gloves. I sent Malenstyn back to the Flyers. He is a guy I could see Torts liking. Lastly, if McMichael does not work out at center, you have options in Protas, Reinhart, and Barbashev to slot in. I really like the depth and flexibility of this team.

No, but GMBM said a decision is going to have to be made this off-season about his health and whether he still plays. I just put him on LTIR here in the scenario that he is out next season

I have had people say that a first, third, and LaPierre was too much for Reinhart so what I put together here I thought was fair.

I don’t like acquiring Reinhart necessarily due to him only having one year left on his deal. I believe there was talk he’d test UFA after his current contract when he was traded to Florida.
