Keeping Giroux
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ecupirate07</b></div><div>its a 350k difference from Philly a 700k from Canada, it isnt a huge thing. You arent getting a .7 ppg player for 4.5 million a year.
4 x 5.8 would mean 2.2 million more than a 3 x 7. That isnt a ton especially when Giroux could probably earn 4-5 as a 38 year old in a 90+ million dollar cap scenario. Then you add in the taxes savings of 350k a year over returning to philly and you have a much more respectable 3.5 million dollar difference. Giroux would take that.
4 x 4.5 mil = 18 million + 4 x 350k = 19.2 million
3 x 7 = 21 million.
No agent should ever accept taking less guaranteed money.</div></div>
While I dont know if you’re right or wrong I have no idea. But if he’s having fun and enjoying Florida why wouldn’t you stay in Florida for 1.8 less than go back to a crap team and a crap city lol

The 4th year should pay him more than the 3 year but just slightly.
4 x 5.8 vs a 3 x 7 is better and more realistic scenario.</div></div>
But floridas no state taxes plays a huge part as well like he said above.

FLA-VAN-VGK
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeBone</b></div><div>Well, you're free to think that but 5.3mil for an aging 3rd liner isn't the kind of asset people line up to pay for. His "almost 40 points" (stretching the definition of "almost") also isn't all that much when you consider the absurdly strong offensive team FLA has had this year.
Further, whether something is considered a cap dump or not is also dependent on whether the continued presence of said player on the team limits the ability for the team to retain or build on their existing roster. The Panthers have ~4.8mil in cap space to replace much of their roster's depth and, without moving Hornqvist or another contract, they'd likely be stuck filling out their bottom-6 and 3rd pairing with sub-optimal options. For a contending team, that's not an ideal situation. As such, they would stand to benefit a lot from being free of Hornqvist's 5.3mil in cap hit as a replacement for him likely costs notably less.
This fact in conjunction with my earlier point regarding his performance not being close to worth 5.3mil means he's a cap dump- even if he has value as a player.</div></div>
He plays very minimal minutes and pp minutes. On the right team he’ll do the same thing. He’ll be traded with a fourth or fifth for a third or fourth or he’ll be traded to a rebuilder for a late pick who will trade him 50% retained to. A team on his trade list.

FLA-VAN-VGK
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeBone</b></div><div>I think FLA disproportionately benefits from this 3-way trade. They get out of a cap burden in Hornqvist AND get Dadonov and Hague at the cost of a bunch of easily replaceable assets- with the arguable exception of the 2nd. Ignoring that Hornqvist should probably cost a 2nd to be free of alone, an objective analysis of the pieces doesn't look like a package that'd approach even just Hague in value:
- a B or B+ prospect (solid but unspectacular)
- a 24-yr old bottom pairing Dman (not bad but pretty much every team has a comparable player or two)
- a young bottom-6 C (not hard to replace)
- a 4th round pick (close to a 5th)
Since your scenario already has VAN taking on cap burdens for picks (something I don't think they're looking to do, but let's entertain the idea), I think they'd be much better off simply taking a pick from Vegas for taking on Dadonov and foregoing all the extra work.</div></div>
But hornqvist isn’t a cap dump. He’s still very valuable and has put up almost 40 points this year. The panthers are giving up a lot here.

Huberdeau gets 9-10 just like barkov. Can’t see weegar taking more than 6. Knight will be a bridge of course. So around 5.5-6.5 million plus 1 million for knight. Just won’t have the depth they have this year of course.

Yes and no. They lose like 5 million in dead cap from buyouts plus the cap going up 1-2 million plus a couple smaller
Contracts going away. They will be just fine.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Czu8iks</b></div><div>They have to move him, I doubt there will be anyone willing to pay for him.
I am just thinking about Panthers cap situation and came with idea of Reinhart, who is on 3rd line, going back to Buffalo. They are stacked, they need to clear some cap space. Barkov, Huberdeau are untouchables, they will want Giroux back and from rest of middle line forwards, Reinhart has biggest cap hit.</div></div>
The cap situation is like Vegas. They just wont be able to sign certain players if they dont trade him. But they’ll trade him to a team for a 4th who will trade him to a team of his choice for a second at 50% retained.

In general teams don't trade young core players to get older.</div></div>
Whatever dude if your gm declined this trade. He’d be an idiot. It’s 2-3 years older it’s not like trading for a 30 year old.

Yes, they are having career years now, but their history suggests they will eventually revert to their normal ineffective selves. No one is going to buy high based on one season and givie up a 23 year old 1C for two older players. This certainly is a bad deal for the Jets and makes them worse shirt and long term.</div></div>
They’re two years older. And yes Bennett’ was bad but since leaving Calgary he’s been better than dubois. And Reinhart has never been mediocre. You need to go back and research these players cause you clearly have no idea.

Uhhh he’s not even the best player on his team and he’s producing the same as in Columbus. He’s a 60 point player second line second. Maybe 70 some years. And Reinhart was the same way until he finally got better players around him and Bennett yes he’s out played his standards but since joining the panthers he’s looked nothing like his Calgary self. Winnipeg gets way better in this trade.

Knight isn’t a ufa for a long time. Plus they clear 6 million in dead cap once huberdeau and weegar and knight need contracts. So they’ll be fine on cap. Giroux is not returning regardless unless he takes league minimum. Only question mark is marchment and chariot which is rather keep marchment over chariot
