I imagine the thinking with Schmaltz is that the Yotes don't need to trade Schmaltz so they'll try to extract a LOT in any deal. He's desirable in that he's still young and has a good amount of term left plus he's productive, even on a bad team.

Need is probably the wrong word, but I am sure there is a huge desire to trade Schmaltz given they have to pay 7, 7.5 n 8m in the coming seasons. They usually like guys who have been paid heavier on the front end of their deal. Yotes are broke. Girard and a 1st is just Ludacris. Word of mouf.

That may be the case but I still think they'd try to get a lot back. Personally, I don't think it's worth it but a lot of people are fixated on the position of the player which, IMO, isn't even all that important.
