maclellan again today said he's still looking to make a move in the top 6 ... still holding out hope as he's never failed before but time is definitely running out

I hope the wait is for something good that will light a spark.

I am really surprised TK has not been moved. I have no idea what direction Flyers are going, but after the season TK just had and it being a sellers market, they could really get a good return.

I really hope GMBM has at least talked to the Flyers. Would be fine with giving up Lap, 2024 1st (protected), Mantha - something like this.

Caps can't do this because they don't have a 2024 2nd round pick. But I don't understand why teams aren't signing Laf to a 4.2m x 1 deal. That would mess the Rangers up and cause them to either lose Laf (for a 2nd round pick which I would gladly pay for him) or scramble and dump someone...I double checked and they couldn't match it without dumping someone

I understand this rarely happens. Can someone explain to me why?

idk if its actually been reported or just widely speculated by fans but the theory is that offer sheets don't happen very often because of unwritten collusion amongst NHL GMs. first, offer sheets being more popular would lead to rfas getting paid closer to their actual value, costing teams both in real dollars and ability to strengthen their teams. second, they are fearful of retaliation in the form of offer sheets against their own players -- think of the absolutely petulant carolina offer sheet of KK

Mantha is giving a sh*t this offseason. This team could go under the radar if everyone is up to speed

Apparently Mantha finished close to 1st in skate test. Backy looked strong as well.

My predictions for Mantha and Kuzy:
I think Mantha has a fine season - pretty average.
I think Kuzy has a bounce back season and gets 75+ points.

Was super pumped to finally have the Caps back yesterday, and am hoping to go in person soon. The two most important parts of preseason are avoiding injuries and seeing if any prospects surprise. A little worried about TVR on the first front but seems as though he'll be fine. On the second, I thought Suzdalev and Hofer really stood out yesterday. Neither looked like the game was too fast for them which is impressive from later round picks in their first pro action. Suzdalev especially seemed like his playmaking ability could translate to the next level which would be a huge bonus. I thought Lapierre looked pretty decent as well and definitely got physically stronger. Was nice to see Mantha making some confident plays with the puck as well.

As for the negatives, its mostly off the ice with the Kuzy situation. I've defended him before and been much more willing to give him a final chance than a lot of people but this is completely unacceptable. This isn't a Babcock situation where the coach is being actually creepy/unprofessional or one where the Org has been mismanaging injuries (Eichel in BUF, Pearson in VAN for example). Don't care how much you dislike a guy's system, just giving up completely and not trying and then still taking shots at him after he's gone is not ok. It's too late in the summer and he's made himself too much of a negative asset with his play and now talk off the ice (just listen to the 32 thoughts from today) that I think they still have to roll with him this year but I imagine the leash is incredibly short. Can definitely see him getting bought out or traded for nothing in the season if things continue like this.
