Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Mantha, Anthony ($1,200,000 retained)
  2. Suzdalev, Alexander
  3. 2023 1st round pick (WSH)
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
• MTL gets a one-year ticket to evaluate Mantha and see how he could fit in the team's future plans. They also get a big-body project winger, with some offensive upside, in Alexander Suzdalev.

• MTL trades down from #5 to #9, selecting Dalibor Dvorsky, while also adding a 2nd round pick (40th overall).
WSH
  1. Gurianov, Denis
  2. Norlinder, Mattias
  3. 2023 1st round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
• WSH replaces Mantha with another enigmatic, but a lot cheaper winger in Denis Gurianov (extended in this scenario at $2.0m per for 2 years). They also add a young-ish left-handed puck moving defenseman, who's also very comfortable playing on the right side, providing low cost depth behind Sandin, Fehervary and Alexeyev as a 7th defenseman. Even with Mantha's retention, WSH saves over $1.5m of total cap space, while also adding a player on their 23-men roster in the process.

• WSH trades up from #9 to #5, allowing them to draft Matvei Michkov, setting him up to come over at the same time Ovechkin's contract expires, making him the face of the franchise for the organization's next chapter.
2.
MTL
With the 8th overall pick, the Montreal Canadiens select...from AIK in the HockeyAllsvenskan, centerman Dalibor Dvorsky.

    3. 2023 3rd round pick (MTL)
    4. 2024 2nd round pick (COL)
    Additional Details:
    • PIT gets a low-cost winger, who showed good production-per-60 last season, playing with sub-par linemates.

    • PIT trades down from #14 to #29, acquiring an extra 2nd and 3rd round pick in the process.
    4.
    MTL
With the 14th overall pick, the Montreal Canadiens select...from ECH Kloten in the NL, defenseman David Reinbacher.

          1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
          Additional Details:

          WPG
          1. Engström, Adam [Reserve List]
          2. Kidney, Riley
          3. Mysak, Jan
          4. 2025 1st round pick (CGY)
          Additional Details:
          • WPG adds three young players, including a two-way playmaking center in Riley Kidney, a forechecking sniper in Jan Mysak, and a very good two-way defenseman in Adam Engstrom.

          • WPG gets a 2024 1st (Top-19 protected). Pick is listed as 2025 on CapFriendly, but condition reads as follow: "If CGY’s 2024 1st round pick is between 20 and 32, MTL can take that pick instead."

How about Persson/Trineyev and a mid round pick?

How about adding the Caps 2024 1st round pick then? We have to get something of value if we are taking Mantha back. IMO the deal has to be Mantha + Caps 2023 1st + Caps 2024 2nd + one of Iorio or Chelsey for 5th OVA. If you want to downgrade the prospect you have to up grade the 2nd.

I don't know, I'm seing his name all over the place on the lists published. But if I'm being honest, I also think he might be gone, and debated if I should use WSH's 1st round pick on Reinbacher instead, and deal with the fact that Dvorsky won't be available at 14th (there's still gonna be good forwards at that spot). Although, in this case, I'm not sure I would be doing the deal with Pittsburgh.

I have Reinbacher 8th in my rankings and 7th to Philly in my mock. I'd be surprised if he slips past both Philly and Washington, and super surprised if he makes it to 14.

I think you have to add a good prospect like Iorio or Chelsey for the Habs to consider that

Yeah you're definitely right. The trade here is more even, I let my Caps fan bias seep in lol.
