Minnie being realistic

Created by: Justin_LetsGoStars
Team: 2023-24 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: May 19, 2023
Published: May 19, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think Minnie plays this next season out and develops their prospects. After this season, Zucc's, Foligno's, Goligoski's, and Fleury's contracts fall off and you could possibly extend Hartman with the free cap space.

I would've loved to do more to this roster, but unfortunately there are so many dumb NMC's, it's very hard to rebuild this roster.

Additional Details:
This deal gets done before Free Agency. The point of this deal is to get rid of Foligno's $3.1M cap hit and BUF might want to throw a little more grit and veterancy in their lineup.

Kings are bursting at the seams offensively, we need defense and goal.

Why do the Wild being one of two teams with 100 points in the west the last 2 seasons need to "rebuild the roster"?

They can go into next season with pretty much the same team, bring in some of the younger guys like hopefully Rossi and Beckman. Continue developing the guys like Lambos, Hunt, Peart in the minors. The European prospects stay in Sweden and Russia until Fall 2024 (as Michael Russo has stated numerous times). Then just as the young guys take over more of the roster they will literally have $30-40 million to add from free agency in 2 years.

It feels like a Stars fan poking the bear here. No way they move Foligno for a 6th round pick.

I'm not really poking the bear here, just been bored at work. I've also been doing other teams as well, so I'm not just singling out one team. Yall had 100+ points but were very ineffective in the playoffs. I will say most of it was your coaching, but your "big" players were pretty much silenced.

Our big players were silent, but I wonder how much injuries affected the team. Kirill was never the same after his injury and only had 2 games to get ready before the playoffs and our 2nd best forward in JEEK missed the whole playoffs. Imo missing Ek was bigger than Kirill being silent. But Kirill was quiet vs Deboar and the Golden Knights previously so maybe they just know how to shut him down. But I'd also say some of Kirill's effectiveness works off of Zuccarello who was a totally different player in the 2nd half of the season (in a bad way). Really the Wild were just outmatched, the Wild needed coaching to win them the series because talent wise they weren't gonna do it and the coaching was bad. Unfortunately Wild can't really do anything in the off season so they are just gonna run it back and hope coaching can be better. Can't win a series when your PK is 50% and you take 5 penalties a game lol.

I think they have to run it back next season and then let a lot of contracts fall off the books to really see what direction they want to go in. Kirill is such a good player to build around and your d-core should be solid going forward. Hope they can retool and get some good draft picks coming through the system to help with building out the team.
