The need for speed

Description
…and size and jam. More of a north - south team, as opposed to the east - west team we’ve been seeing

-Ideally Panarin gets moved. This is difficult I understand, but if there is one place he may waive to its Anaheim. He almost went to Florida (he likes the sun and beach) instead back when he was a UFA. He’d also get to play with Strome again, while hotdogging with Zegras. Not outlandish imo

- Crouse and Bertuzzi are players I’d target as Rangers GM. The size, jam and speed combo they’d bring are what we lack imo. Although, my number for Bertuzzi may be a bit light, I could see closer to 6 mill per for him

- losing Laf would hurt, but at least we get someone we can have for 4 years at a pretty good cost.

-Hagelin is nice fit as a 13th F with his Pk ability and additional speed

Idk man. I’m not sure we could get much more than that. He is underrated tho. He’s a good player, and kind of what we need imo. He has a very good contract too

Problem with Laf is he’s a LW and all of our kids coming are LWs (othamnn, Cuylle and Sykora I think) unless someone moves to RW

There’s no point for us to trade assets for a guy who’s 30 already

Strome certainly isn't adapting well yet, hopefully a new coach changes things, but Vatrano is doing great here. We're trying to build a team that competes hard every night and takes a piece out of everyone who steps foot in our barn win or loose.

Panarin is a one dimensions player. He is exceptional at putting up points, but that is all he does, and he is a playmaker more than a scorer. We'd be giving up Vatrano and essentially 3 seconds + a bit extra to take the final years of his deal off New York's hands. Is it that steep of a price? no, probably not. Could those resources be allocated better elsewhere on the roster? yes, the absolutely could.

It’s unfortunate we had to let Vatrano go

Fwiw…Strome and Panarin were dynamite together in NY

Agreed, the team was vocal about trying to tank so they are still a few drafts away. I think they will be trying to compete by the final year of breads deal. If he has another year on the deal it would be better and this would be a steal. But timeline is off for sure. That final year is also why the youth starts getting paid too so it could be an issue

I think Anaheim would be a hot ticket with Panarin Strome Zegras line

As far as the timeline it’s kind of irrelevant. This trade isn’t intended for the Ducks to be playoff relevant yet. It’s like I said, more juice in their building for games. Granted I don’t follow their attendance numbers lol. Just would be exciting at least, with that line
