That Vancouver trade is gross. Myers and Garland are cap dumps. Vancouver is offering the 11th overall to Chicago in exchange for the 19th overall and one of there contracts. You get get both for free high draft picks.

Why are the Leafs giving away Lafferty and Giordano? Both are servicible and make almst no money. Both contracts can be buried.

He has 2 years left. He’s a 99 point Selke finalist. If he was a Cane you’d want someone’s left nut because he’d be your best player.

He would be fantastic and his 2nd year means he has no control. We would be at his mercy to re-sign here for a number we could manage. It would be hard to fit him in his 2nd year and harder when we need extend slavin and keep burns.

Now if he had 1 year left and we could go ahead and negotiate deal now, we would likely be interested.

I've seen a lot Gio of trades and buyouts from Leafs fans lately, is there a reason behind it?

I thought he played well for the leafs for most of the season. I would've loved for Gio to finish his career with the Flames, but we have too many LD right now. Also, I don't think Gio wants to be back, and it might create a problem with Backlund likely being the next captain.

He’s almost 40 and struggled in the playoffs. That said he’s a great leader and makes near league minimum and will be a valuable asset as the 7th D.

Leaf fans want to trade everyone, you know.

I don't see Nylander playing alongside Pettersson on the top line.
Pettersson had more points than Nylander.
This trade will not work.

The Canucks are not offering that trade. Chicago is, I highly doubt Vancouver would do that.

That being said this is still not good for Toronto

My favorite part about this one is the Leafs roster ends up having 4 of the same players on the Canes roster this year, and one from the Canes roster the year before. All rosters that couldn't get it done, and I think the Canes come out with the best player and better team in all of it.

That being said, if the Canes signed Patches and Fast instead of the Leafs, and this deal was done I would really enjoy it regardless of all the boobs that say Canes would never make the deal.

Edit- also it is too much for Marner in a value assessment trade even though I like the player.
