Who Can Beat This Roster Could GMDW do it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Toffoli deal has zero relation and the value between the 2 is really not close. Toffoli was worth a late 1st in value and that's what he got. Lindholm is worth more than Bo Horvat since he's a strictly better player. If you replaced Drury with Heimosalmi or Morrow then we can talk.</div></div>
A 3rd and Sharangovich is equal to a late first? I would think it's the same GM willing to move players, so the Toffoli deal has plenty of relation. Lindholm is worth more than Toffoli, I'd think this would be close to what the Canes offer though and it's not that far off from the Horvat deal.
If we are comparing Horvat deal to Lindholm

I'm curious what your ideal return is? Player is essentially a rental, I'd say considering the Toffoli deal this is far above the value there and probably an overpay.

Yeah, the roster is nice. Not sure how reasonable it all is and yeah values are off. I just wanted to see how they could make it work financially. Basically a rental swap Teuvo for Lindholm plus some extra pieces for retention.
I could see Tarasenko taking a 4x4 given how cap-strapped everyone is. AFP Analytics projects 3x$5ish. So maybe he takes a Bertuzzi type deal and signs 1x4.5 and can get a longer term next year when the cap goes up.

So lots of good things happening in Columbus.</div></div>
Sillinger and KJ are studs too, they have potential for 1C or just not responsible enough on the dot and defensively to handle it?

Surely Mayfield gets more than that in FA right? I think it might make sense to move Pesce for a winger, pay Mayfield a bit more and keep Chatty 3RD.
No need for De Haan.
Too much for JP.
I'd kind of hope Staal signs for less for an extra year or two.
Not sure Patches fetches that much either, considering his health is a big ?
I liked Ghost last year, but I think there's cheaper or better 3LD options available with more physicality and defensive responsibility.

This Columbus team is running such a fine line between dumpster fire and legit contender it’s crazy. Don’t mind the idea, but probably better options out there for a trade, little bit of limited team control coming back from Philly.</div></div>
I thought they would take a bigger step forward last year, my parents are STM in Columbus so try to keep up with them. Injuries obviously destroyed their season last. year, but think legit #1 goalie and some more scoring up front with the young talent makes them a solid contender in the metro. Especially if WAS, PIT don't get it together. Devils came in and took one of the spots, could Columbus be next with this kind of roster?

Leafs
My favorite part about this one is the Leafs roster ends up having 4 of the same players on the Canes roster this year, and one from the Canes roster the year before. All rosters that couldn't get it done, and I think the Canes come out with the best player and better team in all of it.
That being said, if the Canes signed Patches and Fast instead of the Leafs, and this deal was done I would really enjoy it regardless of all the boobs that say Canes would never make the deal.
Edit- also it is too much for Marner in a value assessment trade even though I like the player.

Another Caniac on here believes Necas will be moved this offseason. Necas and a 2nd for Cat maybe... I personally don't think Necas will be moved.
I don't think there is a reasonable deal Canes would offer for Cat that doesn't include a bunch of mid-tier prospects and maybe a first. Very unlikely there's a player on the active roster that would be moved for Cat.

Canes would be better off keeping Jarvis and sending an offer sheet to Cat for 5x8.5 which equates to a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd or 6x8.5 and give up two 1sts, 2nd and 3rd.

Actual Scoring Depth for 23-24
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>That regression isn't worth it. He's not a point per game winger, which is what you're paying for here. You're another 1st away from opening a Marner conversation. TK is a few rungs away from this caliber of player. If you wanted to go this route, Keller is probably a better fit. He's shown that a shooting percentage north of 15% isn't a fluke, doesn't have the same injury woes, and is signed long term.
I'd rather have a 35 year old Jordan Staal than a 29 year old JT Compher. Offensively, it's close, they both average 30 points a season. Staal is one of the best play drivers in hockey, he's one of the best defensive forwards in the league, and he can do something JT Compher can't and that is be 6'4. Would much rather have Jordo</div></div>
Keller would be a good target, I think I like TK's physicality over Keller but your point is well-spoken and received.
If Staal is willing to take a discount from his projected contract to stay in Carolina, I'm all for it. I think given contract value and age, I'll take the age and speed of Compher over Jordo losing another step, but I'm just a scrub on ACGM so what do I know lol. Curious to see what DW thinks, either way, I don't think Compher leaves COL and we probably end up with Staal anyway.

Actual Scoring Depth for 23-24
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Samsoc22</b></div><div>Dude you have NO idea lol. No offense taken at all. I have watched all 82 games of the Flyers season for the last decade. The numbers that TK was putting up on this team literally had the announcers stunned 😂 like he would score and it would be like “OMG he created that from nothing how does he keep doing this”. Putting up the numbers he did in a season where Torts changes his line mates like every game, asked him to play in all scenarios (which he never did before for PK), and pushed him harder than most other players and all he did is not only respond but thrive. And that was on a terrible team. Imagine what he would look like in Carolina where he doesn’t have to do everything himself it would be ridiculous.</div></div>
Not to mention the grit and physicality he brings. Was very impressed with TK last season coming back from injury.

Actual Scoring Depth for 23-24
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Considering Jordan Staal on average outproduces Compher, I'll take Jordon.
Konecny was shooting at 16%. That is going to come crashing down, he's got a career average of 12. WAY too much for a guy riding a career year</div></div>
I agree his shooting % will regress, but in the Canes offense that generates more scoring chances than Philly a 12% career shooting % would exceed Andrei's career shooting % and indicate at minimum another 30-goal scorer in a full 82 GP.
Staal turning 35 indicates regression. Compher at 28 with increased stats with increased TOI indicates growth. I'll take Compher. Also, Staal's contract is projected at 2x$4.2m which is entirely too much for a 35 year old imo. If Staal wants to take less than $2m then I'll take Staal.

Actual Scoring Depth for 23-24
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Samsoc22</b></div><div>I think people get mixed up in the fact that TK will be extremely sought after because the UFA class is weak. If TK is truly available he will be one of the best available on the market which means many teams will put bids in for him. Is this offer an overpay? I mean yeah but at the same time bidding wars drive the price up on players all of the time. That’s just how sports work. 7 GM’s were willing to offer a 1st for Risto when the flyers got him so the flyers had to overpay to acquire him. Has it worked out? No but TK is miles better of a hockey player than Risto lol</div></div>
Spot on. If the problem with the Canes success is the need for a goal scorer, or an "elite" goal scorer. I'd say TK with 31 goals on the FLYERS (no offense lol) in 60 games last season fits that bill. Outside of one of the Core Four (excluding Tavares) in Toronto if one of those guys is available, I'd say TK is the best option potentially available in the market this offseason.
