Expecting a third team to retain - and tie up a retention slot for four years - for a 3rd round pick is pretty silly

I think this is a bit of an overpay for both Karlsson and Lindholm and I don't think Teuvo is going anywhere or that the Canes sign Tarasenko to 4 years. would love this roster though (just swap Senko and Teravainen)

Hmmmm, almost like I said returns are way off and just looking at the money but thanks for your valuable input.

Yeah, the roster is nice. Not sure how reasonable it all is and yeah values are off. I just wanted to see how they could make it work financially. Basically a rental swap Teuvo for Lindholm plus some extra pieces for retention.

I could see Tarasenko taking a 4x4 given how cap-strapped everyone is. AFP Analytics projects 3x$5ish. So maybe he takes a Bertuzzi type deal and signs 1x4.5 and can get a longer term next year when the cap goes up.

I'm curious what your ideal return is? Player is essentially a rental, I'd say considering the Toffoli deal this is far above the value there and probably an overpay.

I was saying that the Canes wouldn't offer Senko a 4x4, not that he wouldn't take it. he's old and and the FO didn't even offer a younger Bunting that kind of term

Toffoli deal has zero relation and the value between the 2 is really not close. Toffoli was worth a late 1st in value and that's what he got. Lindholm is worth more than Bo Horvat since he's a strictly better player. If you replaced Drury with Heimosalmi or Morrow then we can talk.

A 3rd and Sharangovich is equal to a late first? I would think it's the same GM willing to move players, so the Toffoli deal has plenty of relation. Lindholm is worth more than Toffoli, I'd think this would be close to what the Canes offer though and it's not that far off from the Horvat deal.

If we are comparing Horvat deal to Lindholm

I would think it's the same GM willing to move players, so the Toffoli deal has plenty of relation. Lindholm is worth more than Toffoli, I agree but if we are discussing returns and I think it would be agreed that the Toffoli return was underwhelming that the expectation is maybe Conroy continues to take whatever he can get or best available offer and this is probably the maximum the Canes would give up. Whether they accept it or not is to be debated.

40 point players who are under 25? Yes we've seen many of them moved for late 1sts. Hell we just saw a guy 1 year younger moved for the 17th OA pick. Dube, just like Sharagovich is a 40 point player under 25 too and I wouldn't take anything less than a late 1st for him. Sure I probably would have preferred to trade Toffoli for a pick instead but Sharangovich is far from a bad return from my POV. Toffoli is like TJ Oshie. If Oshie was traded at the same age for a player of similar age, position, and production as Sharangovich we would be talking about guys like Palat, Pearson, Tatar, Palmeiri, R. Smith, and Zucker. Plus a 3rd too. Looking back Pearson is the only one of those players that would only be a bad return and that's more due to injuries.

So the GM makes one trade and you've decided that all future trades must be "underwhelming" by default? Regardless of

I agree Vancouver absolutely got a better return than what you are currently offering
