Whos the dummy in this deal

Created by: Pjreifii
Team: 2023-24 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 22, 2023
Published: Jun. 22, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Let's play a game of who's the dummy. Briere or Kekalainen

Disclaimer- Not a fan of either of these teams, listening to 32 Thoughts about Philly moves and a crazy trade like this came to my head.

Is 3rd OA this year, Carlson, Smith, Michkov etc. plus goalie swap/other parts enough for TK, KH, and Hart? Is CBJ even willing to do that deal? May have been too much to give up from CBJ for assets that Briere wants to move anyway, so what would be a fair deal in a package for these 3?

This is an EA Sports NHL23 type deal and not realistic, just a fun exercise.

Think Bean would be a target to move, could maybe get a prospect in return? IDK his value these days after he left CAR and has struggled in Columbus. I know I've seen Boqvist moved around in some deals as well so that's why I chose those two plus guys already on deals with higher AAV than the guys that are sticking around. Obviously rolling with 5 lines here, so plenty of cap flexibility with guys on 2 ways.

I'm bored at work this week, so let's discuss

*Edit- don't pay too much attention to these lines, KJ or Sillinger could easily slot top 6 with their growth so I just went with older more established players in top 6
Trades
1.
PHI
  1. Boqvist, Adam
  2. Merzlikins, Elvis
  3. 2023 1st round pick (CBJ)
  4. 2023 3rd round pick (CBJ)
  5. 2024 1st round pick (CBJ)
2.
CBJ
VAN
  1. Bean, Jake
  2. 2023 4th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Any team, cheaper younger OEL replacement was the thought with picking Vancouver. Especially if Bear doesn't get an offer, Canucks are going to need NHL D and Bean doesn't seem to have a place in CBJ after a rough season. Not sure if 4th is right value or if Bean is even in "cap dump" territory, just thinking of ways to make space for Philly deal

3OA wouldnt be on the table for a deal like this.

Jarmo and JD have already said they are drafting a center, and would only trade the pick for a young, established 1C - think EP or Matthews.

Frankly, PHI doesnt have the assets for a move like this.

Read Description? I said it likely was, so what is a good deal?

Columbus shouldn’t trade 3oa period. This Columbus team is running such a fine line between dumpster fire and legit contender it’s crazy. Don’t mind the idea, but probably better options out there for a trade, little bit of limited team control coming back from Philly.

NHL 23 type deal, not realistic nor would it ever happen. Just curious value.

I thought they would take a bigger step forward last year, my parents are STM in Columbus so try to keep up with them. Injuries obviously destroyed their season last. year, but think legit #1 goalie and some more scoring up front with the young talent makes them a solid contender in the metro. Especially if WAS, PIT don't get it together. Devils came in and took one of the spots, could Columbus be next with this kind of roster?

I think the value is off. Philly would need to add much including their 23 first

1c and upgraded goalie and they are in the mix for sure, possibly a few too many moving parts that could be good or Throw the moral into chaos. 4 years and 20 million on there tender is a bit of a obstacle, but there’s teams that are headed for rebuilds and just need a tender, going to cost if they go in a different direction, but doable. 2/3 year 1c type rental would be perfect, especially if 3oa turns into 1c nearing the end of his elc. So lots of good things happening in Columbus.

Sillinger and KJ are studs too, they have potential for 1C or just not responsible enough on the dot and defensively to handle it?

Elvis isn't bad. He had a rough couple years due to a whole load of factors. CBJ are drafting a center at 3OA so there is no sense in selling the farm now. Just ride it out.

For sure, basically stack them up and hope they all come in strong, I’m a big fan of sillinger and don’t know kj that well, and fantilli or carlsson both going to be legit. Depth is going to be solid going forward. With cap room and the right veteran 1c could be a good influence on the young guys going forward, limited term though so they don’t block the kids.
