Looking to the end of the cap hell as the cup window opening

Created by: Easportzz
Team: 2023-24 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: May 29, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This assumes that the negotiations with Gus get tough, and that there is an organizational push to target the 2025 season in particular. Not a fire sale- but some moves to keep roster spots open for ascending prospects and short contracts only to maintain flexibility. Meanwhile team can still be strong with Nyquist and Freddy on wings with Rossi - good support to help the young center see if he can get his sea legs. The goaltending situation obviously different and some mild concern there. But again, planning for the future here. Addison gets shipped out for what you can salvage. Goligoski agrees to waive to play one more year with meaningful minutes somewhere.

And if it all goes to ****, they’re sellers at the deadline shipping off some guys from the Zuccarello, Hartman, Foligno, Dewar group.

Korpi deserves more than 1.4

Addison has massive upside, could see minny moving on but not for a third

As good as Gust was this year, it could make sense to possibly move on for the right price or if he wants to much money given the unpredictability of most goalies

Just out of curiosity because Flyers could use RHD, why hasn’t Addison been able to become a full time NHLer yet?

What is Addison worth in your opinion?

Only thing is that they should be selling high on him, I don't think a 2nd a 4th is enough.

Addison had his rookie season last year playing in 62 games and got 29 pts, they probably weren't going to trust to play him in the playoffs though. He's definitely netting at least 1st round pick. With PHI having the 7th OV, I would guess a trade would be around a cost controlled C or prospect. I don't think Frost would be available but who knows. Probably Cates (I think Noah) is more likely to be available, he also happens to be a Minnesota native.

Why would Detroit trade for a LD when they have the following already in their system?

Ben Chiarot
Jake Walman
Olli Määttä
Simon Edvinsson
Albert Johansson
William Wallinder
Eemil Viro
Shai Buium
Jared McIsaac
Donovan Sebrango

Makes sense then, probably not a deal to be has then with the Flyers cause I’m pretty sure they think Frost and Cates are untouchable except for some crazy deal and obviously they aren’t going to give up the 7OA

In the event they have to trade him, I hope you’re right. But unless there are multiple teams interested that drive up the price, I don’t think the Wild get more than this. The offer sheet potential price seems to limit things in terms of a trade.

For what it is worth, I’d rather see them figure out how to keep him, but I think Foligno would have to be moved for that to happen (his 3.1m one of only places to find some relief).

In short, I don’t know. Maybe they wouldn’t. My write up suggests I don’t know know where to project him, but I suspect someone would be willing to part with a late pick and take on his full salary for what he still brings on ice and in locker room.
I try to make reasonable trades but admittedly on the “for a 7th rounder” types I cut some corners on researching other teams depth charts and prospect pools.

Definitely getting a first round pick? I hope you’re right. Wild seem to have tanked his value, so I’ll be shocked if his value is a first.

Do you think Flyers would swap Addison for Tyson Foerster?

There’s no chance of that he’s the #2 prospect in the ORG behind Cutter. He has to be untouchable unless some stupid overpay comes in
