Why? There is no reason whatsoever for the Canes to make the move for Karlsson. We have already seen what happens when Burns and EK65 are in the same team, and the Canes aren’t going to make the same mistake the Sharks did.

I like the EK65 fit with Slavin a lot better than Burns. They just acquired Burns last offseason and he becomes essentially useless if they acquire karlsson

They could possibly trade burns and get some positive value back as he is the Retained salary amount now. I don’t see the practicality of them paying all those futures for EK65 to fill a role they have filled to an extent with Burns

It’s not about filling a role it’s about adding a game changer and burns isn’t usless anymore he’s still on the second line pp and can even play on the first instead of necas or nosen

Alright, and why would they do the scenarios you just made?
Burns has fit like a glove, mainly because he isn’t completely useless defensively. The same can’t be said for EK, and Slavin can only babysit someone so much. That’s part of the reason why Dougie and TDA are not on the Canes anymore.

Even if we ignore the nonsensical nature of an EK to Carolina trade, he is never going to repeat this season again. Either due to getting injured or straight up not producing. Any team looking to acquire EK automatically loses the trade. SJ gave Ottawa their top 2 centers, and several other pieces as well. Canes aren’t going to make the same mistake.

Makes him less effective, his play and the play of the Sharks has been declining prior to the trade. After being dealt, he had a resurgence as did Karlsson but maybe that has more to do with being healthy but could be both.
