This has been pointed out in various places but I'll say it again: Schmaltz doesn't really play much C and most of his production came from the wing. I don't think he's the answer the Avs are looking for.

I haven’t seen that before but I’ll take note of it. Among the 2C candidates out there, who is your favorite?

To be honest, I don't think the Avs should be trading major assets to get a 2C - it doesn't make sense for them at this point. What I do think makes sense is going after someone like Granlund - he won't cost much and if they can squeeze a bit of retention from Pittsburg for him, he could very easily bounce back and be a decent 2C for the next few years. I think going "off the board" is the right play.

Granlund definitely is a sleeper among Avs fans and I prefer him over Hayes.

That is a plain bad move for the Avs. Shmaltz isn't even a C.
