From ducks side of the gibber trade. The Ducks are rebuilding once again. Yes Gibson was stellar during some seasons of play but he also has never been in a place where he can shine. This gets a hefty contract off their books and brings back a young defenseman who has serious offensive potential in Smith and DeSmith who can easily fight to be the starter of the rebuilding Ducks next season. These trades make them younger and prepare for to end the rebuild they are in for years to come. Yes we gave up a 2nd but during is a very intelligent player who is good with the puck if they sign him to a contract next year they are golden

This is bad.

Wings will decline that offer. I also don't want to give away our picks to our Division Rival.

Hard no giving away John Gibson to Pittsburgh for that.

The only reasonable trade here is giving up Mcginn to CBJ for a 6th round pick.
