Canes pass. Marner isn't worth that. Necas is a 70-point winger that had something like 3 less goals than Marner this year. Losing Pesce too for someone that doesn't help the goal scoring is a pretty easy no.

I don't actually think the Canes are opposed to moving him, but it would have to be for something worthwhile. An extended Nylander, maybe. Obviously Matthews too. Marner... just doesn't fix the issues the Canes have

hes played at a 30 goal pace the last 3 years, and while hes pass first and doesnt directly fix the goal scoring issues himself, he creates opportunities and chances for other players to score goals at an elite level

If we were to trade an extended Nylander to the Canes id do it for Necas extended as well, maybe 1 for 1. Can Necas play Centre well?

That's all well and good, but Carolina could just as easily go and pick up Tarasenko in free agency if they wanted a 30 goal scorer and keep Kotkaniemi and Pesce to do so. Marner isn't the big time scorer they're after, which means moving roster pieces doesn't make sense. Marner has always had a center that scores at a ridiculous rate beside him until this year. His best seasons coincide with Tavares' 40 goal season, Matthews' 60 goal season, and this year. This is the only one he showed he can be the one that stirs the drink. Combine those two factors, and as good as he is, and I'm not arguing that, he doesn't fit Carolina's needs

He can, but he shouldn't. He played some time down the middle during the year when Aho was hurt. His speed and offensive talent down the middle would be incredible, but Rod's system kind of smothers that.
