Description
*** saw a trade from a canes writer on Twitter with a trade very similar to this. I think many undervalue DeBrincat. If you watched the Sens this past year you know DeBrincat wasn’t used to his strengths at all by smith. A big factor as to why he wants out as well as wanting to play in the states. DeBrincat didn’t play with Norris or Stützle at all this past season. His line dumped and chased way too much for a skilled line. He was never fed on the power play. My point being that he will thrive given the right opportunity. Even though we didn’t use him to his strengths he still had a very respectable season for a guy a new team learning a new system. With Aho I truly believe he can score 40 with ease. The canes want a legitimate sniper. They get one with him. I think he would also take a bit of a pay cut to play with an organization with so much recent success.

then CAR will not get Cat and will not get any goal scorers, you have to give to get.

We’ll be fine as Debrincat isn’t our fix anyways

CAR need scoring, you need to get it were you can, 40+ goal scorers aren't traded often and Jarvis will NEVER be a 40 goal scorer.

there is a reason CAR for Paches

So who is looking silly now? There is 0 way for you to predict what Jarvis is capable of scoring

Just because we need scoring doesn’t mean we go get a D zone floater who is a smurf and trades away a really good young player who actually plays an excellent 2way game.

Turbo would be the only roster forward that would go out for cat and even then that isn’t something we want to do. Cat isn’t worth near what Ottawa is trying to push for a team that wants to play a cup style game

Yes, and did you see what CAR paid for Patches? Different players obviously, Cat has much more value than Patches, but it's not like the Canes traded a promising, young forward who forechecks well and fits Rod's style to get him. Debrincat will never be a 40 goal scorer in Carolina because of the defensive system Rod employs - Aho has gotten close a few times, and that's it since Rod has been HC.

your making a fool out of yourself by saying OTT was anything but crap defensively, even non-hockey people can see OTT had no defensive system or played any kind of defense under smith.

and BTW there is a saying in hockey, defense can be taught, offense cannot.

Elite defense cannot be taught. 60-point offense, like DeBrincat put up, can. You cannot teach size, and Cat is 5'8. That's the saying I think you're looking for. Truthfully, that's never bothered me about Cat.

Ottawa's blueline was awful, but a lot of the forward were actually strong in their own zone

ROFL, if there is a stat to keep track of 2 on1 against OTT would be #1 or at the very least top 5, there were horrendous in the D zone, you need to stop making **** up to justify your talking point

Wow, a stat that reflects on defenseman? Nice! 2-on-1s are caused by bad pinches. I said the Ottawa blueline was awful. The forwards weren't

bad positioning, forwards not supporting their D all of which OTT was famous for last season. go watch all 82 sens games and you will see, they had no defense structure to speak of at all last season.

ive had people who are not hockey fans say OTT had no D structure if you cannot see that then you know squat about hockey

Again, analytically, they're fine defensively. You can see it in the numbers. If you can't admit that, you shouldn't be on a chat forum discussing hockey.
