I doubt you buy three years of Samsonov's FA for that price. My feeling is a contract that long has a 5 at the front end.

Someone will pay Barbashev 5 million. It should not be Toronto. That's above his pay grade.

With Tippett, the first rounder is a quasi second which really deteriorates it's value. I know you have numbers there in terms of prospects but the one with the most meat on the bone is Hirvonen and I put him on the border of play for the Leafs/play for someone. Koster I'm not sure makes it. Hollowell plays for someone not Toronto. SDA is spending a year in Russia apparently so his rights are a throw in at best which means the other names have to swing the deal because the first alone does not do it. And they do not.

It feels to me like you looked for the five shortest/softest guys in your opinion and slapped a package together with the first.

I've had all of the players you've mentioned in trades, but I've not had any of them as the first or second asset in any of them, especially for a player of Tippett's caliber/potential.
