So why is SJ taking on an extra 4 million for literally nothing? Clearly they decline.

My logic was half retained at the TDL Myers would be worth more than Simek, the sharks would get a higher pick IMO and the canucks get cap relief for the season.

So they can flip Myers during the TDL also after his signing bonus he's only owed 1 million so a GM wouldn't be afraid to make a move like this to get a pick during the TDL.

Because we need cap space to make potential moves like getting a 3C like drouin, Monahan, or even trading for one. The Canucks are obviously trying to make the playoffs this season and the sharks are currently rebuilding. So both teams win the canucks get cap space, and the sharks get a pick during the TDL and they don't have to give any actual cash.

Yeah add a 2nd rounder going to San Jose and sure
