Overpayment? Nothing in that deal, but Lilly and the 1st and Lilly has proven nothing, yet. Brodie is a cap dump and Hirvonen is a B prospect

Brodie is worth more than a cap dump - has been Leafs number one D man for years.

Sandin was just traded for a first. One can assume that Liligren's market value is at least that - even though he is much more proven at NHL level.

Robertson and Hirvonen have high ceilings but have not proven anything. Probably better to hold on to them, but probably worth a late 2nd or early 3rd each.

So overall you are giving up:
1st round pick
1st round equivalent (Liligren)
Two 3rd rounders (modest)
Brodie (most reliable defenceman)

Thats a large return for a career high 60 point guy that wants $9M.

Huge overpayment, Only decent piece in the whole deal is Timothy Liljegren and the 28th overall pick from Boston. The rest you can keep.
