Klingberg is all offence, Brodie is all Defence so I doubt that is the tradeoff. D core is looking rough so they could be making a move there.
Jarkrok is a value deal but he doesn't seem to fit what Treliving is doing regarding "toughness:

If he is on the list
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mikearky</b></div><div>Overpayment? Nothing in that deal, but Lilly and the 1st and Lilly has proven nothing, yet. Brodie is a cap dump and Hirvonen is a B prospect</div></div>
Brodie is worth more than a cap dump - has been Leafs number one D man for years.
Sandin was just traded for a first. One can assume that Liligren's market value is at least that - even though he is much more proven at NHL level.
Robertson and Hirvonen have high ceilings but have not proven anything. Probably better to hold on to them, but probably worth a late 2nd or early 3rd each.
So overall you are giving up:
1st round pick
1st round equivalent (Liligren)
Two 3rd rounders (modest)
Brodie (most reliable defenceman)
Thats a large return for a career high 60 point guy that wants $9M.

WPG is rumored to be trading Hellebuyck, Scheifele, and DuBois.
Pretty much sounds like they will be entering a rebuild so not sure if they would want Nylander back. Woll makes sense though.

Sorry - what I meant was he does not bring an UPGRADE in 2-way play, physicality, or offensive ability.

Fair value trade IMO.
However do not think Leafs do it. Marner is a better player than Bratt, and Brat doesn't bring anything else to table (2-way play or physicality). Also is not going to cost way less that you can fill out your roster in other places.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheRealKyleDavidson</b></div><div>28th pick to 67 is only moving down one round basically.
Also no way in hell is the cap going up 3-6 million. That was never reported and if it was to go up it would be 1 million each year. Even at that there are reports that the cap may actually not go up at all this year.
So you really wont to take on a 2 million dollar cap hit instead of moving back a round?</div></div>
https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/nhl-preparing-teams-for-sharp-salary-cap-increase-over-next-three-seasons/
Man you said it so confidently too - cap is absolutley not going up $1m a year after next.
Also "moving down a round" is a very dumb argument. Moving from 1st overall to 32nd is a lot different from moving from a 6th to a 7th.
In this case moving from a late first to an early third is a pretty large drop off in value.

Your are not getting a first for Murray/Muzzin
Leafs have all $ in world to pay out Muzzin's contract on LTIR
A Murray buyout costs almost nothing this year, and only $2m next year when cap is going up $3-$6M. No problem there.
They probably end up dumping Murray but it wont be for a first.

Fairly Realistic but just don't feel like this moves the needle a lot for them.
Also I feel that at this point Brodies Play > Market value so not worst idea to let him ride out the season.

2 Different Coaches
2 General managers (going on 3)
Anderson, Campbell, Samsonov in net
D and bottom 6 turned over more times than I can count
Who is the common denominator?
If they were loosing in conference or Stanley cup finals constantly you could make argument that you need to tweak things around the core. It is simply not the case. Best they have gotten is 5/16 wins. Not good enough.

They have had two coaches and seven years.
A potato could have been coaching and they should have beat Columbus and the Habs.
Marner and Matthews have a combined 0 goals and 4 points in last 6 series clinching games.
Complain about everything else all you want, they are the ones who have not gotten it done.
