Realistic Potential Leafs Lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YouHaveToBeLeaf</b></div><div>Kampf plays a huge role in shutting down opposition's top guys, as well as face-off duties in the d-zone, and penalty killing. I'd keep him over Bunting any day.</div></div>
I have the same opinion.... but it doesn't mean Bunting makes less in the open market.
Before playoffs he was rumored to be getting 5 x $4-5M. No way he gets less than $3.5. Max kampf gets is $2.5 per.

Analyzing a Dubois Deal
Why would Habs want to give up ANYTHING for Dubois? You are not trying to compete next year so just sit on your assets and get him in free agency in a year after he signs his QO this year.

Can every other team accept you are not getting a first in exchange for one year of Matt Murray.
Murray was traded last year with two years left was dumped with a third and a 5th attached.
Plus Leafs could easily buy him out

For sure it depends on the players interest, but that move is risky for the players. If he gets hurt two years into an 8 year deal he still makes 6 extra years of income vs a bridge deal that runs out before his mid 30s.

It comes down to the cost of acquisition for Vejmelka. I think Vejmelka is better than Sammy, but would not give up giant assets to upgrade there.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchJr</b></div><div>And if you do sign FAs with the cap you freed up by dumping Willy - you don’t think you’d have to commit term to those FA signings? Again, makes no sense</div></div>
You are projecting Raymond to be a middle six forward based on his first 2 years in the NHL. He was a fourth overall pick and in the running for the Calder for the priority of the year.
You're right you would have to extend Raymond but you would be buying up year where he is in his prime vs when Nylander is declining.
Players at Nylander's age do not sign 3-4 year deals because this is when their value is the highest so they want to cash in now.

Ultra Aggressive And Unrealistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchJr</b></div><div>Willy is 27, 28 at FA so late 30’s - huh🤨? $9M for 40 goal scorer - gladly pay that. What has Raymond proven? Decent player on a bad team (I agree) but nothing I have seen screams he’ll reach Willy’s level anytime soon and our competitive window is now not a few years from now. Flipping picks for impact players is easy to say but hard to do; exactly why leafs shouldn’t move an impact player in his prime.</div></div>
1. I said extention into late 30s he would be 29 when extention starts + 8 years (you do math)
2. He is a 40 goal scorer now, not sure ho you will feel about the $9 when he is no longer putting those numbers up. How do you feel about Tavares contract
3. Nylanders First 2 seasons in NHL - (22G, 61PTS and 20G, 60PTS) Raymonds first two (23G, 57PTS and 17G, 45 PTs (played 10 less games) He may not be at Nyalnders level now but he is trending in right direction, and is going to cost about half the $ during the prime of his career. You can then use extra cap space to improve lineup.

Raymond is 6 years younger than Nylander and a former 4th overall pick that has proven himself with a lot weaker team than he would have in Toronto. Nylander is going to demand nearly $9M into his late 30s. Plus you are getting draft picks you can flip for something else.
Love Nylander, but would drive him to airport for this

True, but the problem is overall scoring, and Nyalnder for Hanfin is a net decrease in scoring in the playoffs.

This is one of the only fair value trades I have seen for one of Leafs core four. Probably has to come with extensions for both Nylander and Lindholm.

Listen I like Domi and think he would give his heart and soul playing for the Leafs, but $5M x 5 for a 28 year old with his playstyle is just too risky.

Not awful value for Nylander/Hanfin trade but Leafs do not need defence when trading one of core 4. Their problem is scoring in playoffs so this would not help that.

To be honest the value is not far off. Think the Leafs would push for a first round pick instead but Toffoli and Hanafin are fairly nice pieces. Especially since Nylander will most likely demand $9m+.

Brad To The Bone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>earl08</b></div><div>Honest Q: when was the last time either TML or Brad Treliving used a draft pick to dump a contract?</div></div>
Last Year Leafs traded Mrazek to Chicago in exchange for moving down 13 spots in the draft.
That was for 2 years left at similar $. Murray only has one year left, is porbably better than Mrazek when healthy, and can be placed on LTIR if injured.

Treliving pls see this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>Clearly not as you missed the fact that in general he shows up vs TML
I mean is he making Marner money ? No
Hence us not expecting that much from him
He's Colemen with a 750k bump in salary and he's done just about as much in a similar role
Hes from Toronto, and often plays harder against them - Toronto isn't going to pay a premium for him vecause he plays well just against them.
This has nothing to don with marner (who I thuik the leafs should move). Its that Anderson simply does not have the market value you are proposing.
What you'll notice here is Andersons Best games are vs Tough Teams who play Physical
His worst are vs less teams with more Defense Based Systems
Come playoffs his 4 hit a game average with 5 goals and 2 GWG including
1 GWG was from a 2 goal night vs TBL in our only win to avoid getting Swept.
When everyone else was deflated and injured with the effects starting to show as the Adrenaline was dying off
It was Anderson who was refusing to give in to the point Toffoli was Demoted from 1st line and Anderson Promoted.
In TML he did what he was asked, Got into Marners his old Linemates head and lived there. Marner was useless that run to the point i think Byron scored more lol
So you say he wasnt a Factor , i say tell his buddy Marner that as he was all over him like a fat kid on cake while Gally/Danault 2v1 Matthews after we demoted then benched Tatar by game 5
