Schenn would only sign a deal like that with Toronto or Vancouver. Barbashev gets more than that, and I don’t think it’s worth 2 2nds and lavoie to swap ceci for Demelo.

Schenn is probably at most a 1.5m player good depth guy but I think got over hyped at the deadline. Demelo is a far better player then ceci imo and you’d still have to pay to move the ceci contract maybe it wouldn’t be as much as two 2nds but you’d still have to pay. I agree I can see Barbashev getting up to 5m for having a good playoff run.

With the limited crop of free agents this summer I’d imagine Schenn could get up to 2.5m a year from someone, but could also see him signing for less if it’s somewhere he wants to be an sure Demelo is an upgrade but I don’t think it’s enough of an upgrade to cost that much especially considering Demelo only has 1 year left. If he had 3 years it makes sense.
