Description
Overall, I tried to keep the trade count low as a bunch of moves always seem unlikely (the Reilly deal most likely will become a buyout as well). Trade details are below, but the rest of the thought process is as follows:

UFAs
- Bergeron returns for bonus heavy deal, Krejci retires.
- Schenn could be a solid 3rd pair with Zboril and should be affordable. The hope is Lohrei will be ready at some point mid-season to slot in for one them anyway.
- Hathaway wasn't great down the stretch, but he could be a valuable guy to bring back as a youth infusion will take place in the bottom six. If they find a guy they feel can bring similar skillset/leadership for cheaper I'm all aboard.

RFAs
- Starting with Swayman. I get the AAV might look low but he has been a backup goalie throughout his career. Plus, perhaps he takes a little less to help keep Ullmark and stay in Boston, then the two sides can agree to a higher AAV extension during the season.
- Frederic will be an interesting case. Again, the AAV might look low but he still has stretches of nothingness in his play. He could be a trade chip, but a slight raise from his $1.5 million salary last year on a "prove it deal" is probably best for both sides.

Trades
1.
BOS
  1. 2024 7th round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
A buyout is likely the choice, but with one year left on his deal perhaps a team like Arizona takes a chance on him for virtually nothing with the hope of flipping him at the deadline.
2.
BOS
  1. 2023 5th round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
Seattle might need a LHD replacement for Soucy. A team like Anaheim who needs left shot defenseman could also be in play here.
3.
BOS
  1. Samberg, Dylan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Truthfully, not sure what Samberg would cost/even is available. But, I'd like what he could bring to BOS. Probably would be a three-team deal with Grzelcyk going elsewhere and WPG getting something else in return.

I think this is very well done. I've been saying that Freddy and Swayman both get one-year deals to ensure more of this roster stays together and they can both cash in a bit more when the cap goes up and overages are no longer around.

I'd like some sort of draft capital back with a younger defenseman for Gryz, but not going to go crazy over a 3rd/4th. Don't think Samberg would be a good partner with Carlo though, both too defensive with not enough puck moving prowess. Would reconfigure that left side.

Jets probably have no interest in moving samberg. Young piece that showed a ton of promise this year and in his WC showing. That’s the kind of player they need to keep around going forward.
