Description
Avs always seem to have injuries, signing some of these prove-it contracts could benefit both parties.

Signing ROR back I could see or we could go for 2C by committee again and sign guys like Monahan as a stopgap. ROR is more ideal with how this team is put together though. ROR, Lehky, and Nichuschkin on a line could shut down any line in the league.

If RoR is commanding $7mil, the Avs probably should consider the trade market. RoR probably should be around 4x$5mil.

EJ ought to be on a minimum deal. There are better Defensemen at that cost.

Landy being injured has given us 7 mil back that i personally think should be spread over 2 players, depth is key for playoffs. spending it all on one guy again just puts the rest of the lineup in a worse position with lower quality players.

I think you're right on for ROR on a 4 year, I do think he'll be more expensive at a two-year deal. That would expire in time for new Makar and Rantanen contracts.

I think EJ might have a bit left in the tank, he had a few really solid games last year, his first full one after a major injury. Who knows though, who do you think Avs should go after for a sixth right-handed defenseman?

Agreed, I did include a few other signings. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see 30+ games from Foudy, 15+ from Ranta and maybe a game or two from Hudon. I could see Avs going after a couple 2.5 million type guys instead of ROR. Who would you target?

i think you can bury RoR at $5 mil by the time that comes around - $5mil in theory should feel more like ~3.5 today. there are plenty of $7mil rental options at center if they want to keep term light.

I'm not opposed to EJ in a 6/7D role. In fact, would love it. But his feet haven't caught up with his game - he's still plenty smart, but he plays like he's as athletic as he once was. All that is to say - if he wants more than a mil, there are younger, healthier options.
