Pretty likely a defenseman gets moved out of STL this summer no? That would help cap flexibility. Blues looked like they needed a middle-6 C on paper

I mean if you want to do Krug for JPG it may work out. But if a defenseman is going out a defenseman is going to have to come in eating up alot of cap.

Pageau is worth like a 4th. Maybe a 3rd. His comparable is like when CBJ got rid of Bjorkstrand

I disagree. Bjorkstrand was the odd man out because the Jackets just signed Gaudreau and re-upped Laine. They really didn't have a place for him. Pageau doesn't *have* to be a cap casualty, and he brings more value than just a Bjorkstrand. JGP is one of the best faceoff guys in the league and plays a responsible two way game. I think he's actually more of a 2C but the Isles have the luxury of depth at C and can assign him some of the dirty work. He's a very solid player

Playing a premium position I think he's worth about a 2nd and 3rd. Couple that the 2nd I sent to STL it is a pick swap that makes sense to me

Lol isn’t Pageau odd man out then now that they have Barzal, Horvat and Nelson?

Plus islanders would only trade Pageau to free up cap space, so which essentially makes it a cap dump. He has value, but not a whole lot especially with the cap not increasing

I mean if we are trading a defensemen we are going to need to replace them and that takes up cap. Plus if we are dealing either Parayko or Faulk for a futures package then it makes 0 sense in getting JPG and trading a first for him because we will be rebuilding at that point. Basically the blues are fine at the forward position and having a 5 million dollar 3C is not a good use of our cap space.

The Isles could easily keep Pageau though (and retain their FAs). Barzal was a RW on Horvat's line but having that extra C is a luxury to how the team is built. And a ton of trades are made with the benefit of freeing up cap, but in this circumstance the Islanders don't *have* to move JGP. The guy who absolutely has to get moved is Bailey because of his cap hit/brings no value. In terms of this ACGM, look what I did after...acquired a different 3C at a lower cost and kept Barzal at RW. isles still have a Center luxury

Also let me be clear: I really like Pageau. He is not a cap dump and there are elements to his game the Isles will really miss if he's traded

I would accept that offer as the Anaheim GM.
