Hmm, thats interesting because every Buffalo person I listen to has Olofsson with less value then Labanc so I thought a 4th would balance. Do you think it would be more of a 1 for 1 if the players were to get moved for each other?

I know that's how I have it lined up, but in reality with this lineup he probably plays like 70ish games given injuries and rotating with Lyubushkin/Stillman. So even though it looks that way he could just as well be in either of the bottom 2 defensive positions.

1 for 1 is suitable. Neither player factors into SJ’s future anyway, just a stopgap while waiting for Robins or Gushchin. Labanc desperately needs a change of scenery.

I would think that is true, but maybe if the sabres added something like a B prospect or another mid round pick that could be enough to dump Mantha + only move back 3 spots and acquire a bottom 6 forward who can play wing or center and is somewhat cost controlled. I threw in Bryson at basically league min to be like a 6/7 D if that's of interest as well. Is there something to be added that would make the Caps move back or are they most likely to stand pat and see who falls to them?

Fair, thanks for the feedback!

IMO most Sabres fans are too down on Olofsson, but I do think that he's a guy that could also use a change of scenery

I like Labanc but the current and last SJS coaches hate him for some reason. He is always in the doghouse. Give him time on the PP and an offensive center and he will thrive.

Forgive me for not understanding here, but are you guys dunking on me or something and I'm way off base or what is happening?

I did post an earlier response, but isn't OEL gonna be like the 3/4 highest paid D on Van in like 3 years? I guess im confused about the problem of Myers being a rotational piece in the bottom pair with a top 4 that includes Dahlin, Power, Pesce, Samuelsson

Have to agree both are similar cap and production both need a change that could work now and long term for all parties

I don't see Buffalo taking Myers.
He is not the same as in year 1 when he debut with the Sabres and won the Calder Trophy at the time.

Myers is terrible. It's a cap dump. You don't want him on your team. I guess maybe on a bottom pair. But I was just laughing because the cost to get off him was just trading down two picks for the Canucks. Seems pretty doable.

I understand, I wasn't expecting him to provide tremendous value I was just thinking that it would cost less to move from 11 to 8 than 13 to 8, just seems like the Caps would be more willing to deal only moving back 3 spots.

Ultimately I'm just foolishly trying to convince myself that Buffalo doesn't have to give up the sun the moon and the stars to get Michkov tears of joy

In all honesty, I don't think the Caps are seriously considering moving back at all. My belief is that there are three possible outcomes for the 8th pick on draft day (ranked from most likely to least likely)
1. The Caps stand pat and make the pick at 8 (I would guess Benson, Dvorsky, or Danielson, or possibly even Michkov if he falls all the way to 8)
2. The Caps trade up, most likely with Montreal, to take Michkov.
3. The Caps trade the pick as part of a bigger deal for a top 6 forward, i.e. William Nylander

Thanks for the feedback! Caps and Buffalo probably don't make sense as draft day trade partners as they could be kinda looking for the same thing then!

Carolina isn’t giving up Pesce for futures and clowns. Peterka + or Tuch are the starting points.

The Caps problem is that they have too many bottom six forwards and not enough top six. They've also got their top 6 D pretty well set and a few guys who should be competing for the 7th D spot (lucas Johansen, Hardy Haman Aktell, Gabriel Carlsson if they give him a QO). This trade doesn't really do much for the Caps.
