After today's presser, can't see Yzerman trading 9 or 17 for ABD ,I honestly don't think he will at any price because of ABD contract requests

I’ll have to watch the presser later tonight. I heard Dorion is looking for a first. I don’t know if that means Detroit is out on him

Garrioch is reporting Dorion would like a 1st rounder. Detroit might be out on him if they don’t want to give up Pick 17 in any capacity

He basically said the contract is just as important as a fit as the the age of the player. He doesn't like handing out 7/8 year deals as they rarely turn out good and doesn't want to hamper his team. I think between Ottawas asking prices and Steve not wanting to give ABD the contract he wants, wings are out. He is pretty dead set on building through the draft and filling some gaps via free agency until the kids are ready. He's not feeling any pressure to make a trade and playoffs would be nice, but not necessarily what needs to happen. Wants the improvement to be from the young nucleus and continue building the core around Larkin. Not saying it's a no, but just sounded like he splashed cold water on any big moves

I'm pretty sure if Bert was willing to sign the deal you offered he would be in Detroit still. Seems like he wants 6 or 7 years tho

Dorion doesn't have any leverage on DeBrincat, As his agent already said that DeBrincat will only sign long term with Dallas or Detroit. And Dallas only has 2024 1st round picks which Yzerman would offer up. The rest of the teams would be pure rentals.

I haven’t seen that anywhere. I’ve only seen where he would potentially accept a trade too. There isn’t anymore information after that. It isn’t just Dallas and Detroit. Florida, Nashville and Vegas are also on his list. I don’t see us trading him to a division rival anyways.

I’d give him 6 years. I don’t know why Detroit moved him but who knows maybe he’s headed back this offseason.

Sean Shapiro who's a respectable beat writer in Detroit reported it. He said that his agent said that Cat green lighted both Dallas and Detroit. And he doesn't report it unless it's facts.
